I think the intent was to bash it after lunch for a set no of overs, but they gave Bairstow a few more to get his hundred

My apologies - if you mean a few overs to get his century I can see that.

For me it was maybe saying no one is going to score faster than Bairstow was doing so let him rip - could actually be advantageous time wise if you see what I mean.

There wasn’t a load of time in the game though was there it finished about 6.45 on day five. The rest may be true.

Hang on, in the first test they declared with 2 wickets in hand when there was likely to be far more time and being started with the “but it’s Bazball” shite.

Today they carried on when they already had a huge lead with a much bleaker outlook weather-wise, and that’s also Bazball?

They batted on today because they wanted more runs on the board.
They DIDN’T bat on to get Bairstow his hundred.
They don’t do sentiment…..And that is BazBall.

As long as you feel both enhanced your chance of winning more than losing, they’re consistent. I can clearly see why you’d think the Edgbaston declaration could. I can also clearly see the other view.

Not so convinced about today. But you’re balancing the match and the series, the match win percentage against the value of grinding the Aussies in the dirt for next time. We have to win two. Bottom line is I think this skipper has done enough in the last eighteen months to earn the benefit of playing these marginal calls how he wants without me calling him a twat.

The majority are fine but there are a couple of knackers , like everywhere , completely blinkered

the best was their opinion on Green and Boland destroying England pre series

I did tell them , it would not happen and especially Boland would be blasted out of the team and was laughed at

Green pre series was a mixture of Sobers, Hadlee, Botham,Kallis, Kapil Dev and the greatest catcher ever

was never going to happen but they couldn’t be told

Green has looked a bag of nerves at the crease, his bowling had been ok and he’s done all right on catching

he is not special

One thing that may come into play are when the flood lights are turned on

the umpires usually set a standard for a play but that hasn’t been established in this test

may be something that will be controversial if it happens
