4th test Manchester

Another really good day from England. Not much wrong. Tactically it’s clearly based on the presumption we’ll get a decent amount of play Sunday (or even sneak a bit tomorrow). But that we won’t get two more days. I think that’s the right way to play it. If they’re right about the weather we probably win. If they’re wrong, I’ll not criticise.

Yet another great day. They call 2005 the greatest series but that had days and even matches that were one sided. This is a one sided match but for the weather. Every other one has been tight. This is the best Ashes series I can remember and I’m 60. Thanks boys.
If England don't win The Ashes from here. I genuinely can't fault them.

 It’s really pissed me off how long it took Moeen to start his over and bowl three balls. He’s f*cked our chances of another one tonight. Idiot.
Nah our fans booing Starc taking a perfectly legitimate catch. Causing umpires to check the footage and reviewing Jimmys plumb LBW were far worse.

I couldn't believe we reviewed that LBW. Jimmy should have been up the stairs before the umpire even had his finger up

I’m being confident and we win, there was an article on the I site that said , the fifth test could be available on Free to view tv

possibly channel four again
Doubt that mind, dosent seem in the nature of those responsibilities to do anything free

Scandalous that the Ashes isn't held in the same regard as Wimbledon and the World Cup.. It's the oldest competition England have been involved in.
Smashing day for the Anglo-Saxons that!
It’s not mate. You’re on a football board so surely you should know England v Scotland 1872. First retrospectively assigned England Australia match was 1877 first Ashes test 1882.

Aye, probably too many Spiced rums

love the fact the first international cricket match was between 🇺🇸 and 🇨🇦 though

Seriously Starc’s catch was not legitimate. As an old bastard who only umpires now I’d say it’s so clear cut it’s absurd it’s controversial.

If you and Glenn McG think it should be, fine, get the law changed. But the idea that decision was controversial is worthy of what we see in football where people who disagree with the law pretend it says something else.

What? That’s got nothing to do with England’s tardiness in the field.

As for reviewing Jimmy’s lbw, it was the last wicket and we had a review - not taking the review would’ve been moronic.

If they lose it by a small margin it will be on the lack of declaration
We should have declared 15 overs before the end of the innings.

We'd have scored 118 runs less, Bairstow would have had another low score for people to moan at, the Aussies wouldn't have been demoralised by the Bairstow pasting, the lead would have been 157 And Australia would be ahead now.

Crazy decision to bat on.

How much you had to drink

I'm on about the Brook dismissal today where Starc foot was close to the rope as he caught it.

Fans booed after the replay and so the umpires referred it upstairs even though was clearly not a 6.

Spot on mate. And the first arguable English international was in the USA too. In 1859 George Parr’s XI played 22 of the United States. Then they had a bit of a spat about slavery and we had to play the convicts instead.
