4th Ashes Test - Old Trafford

0-2 in any format of cricket is awful, no one should disagree with that. That is not the start we needed! Captain you expect him to be the cool head stay in.

Yes Australia have bowled well but well Aussie average similar to us in batting stakes other than smith who’s not human.

Roy was put in as an opener because we had no one else and his confidence was shot. Mistake putting him in at one.

A spinner who’s giving too many runs away needs to be changed if you are trying to keep the rate down.

I am sure he did have a cool head was just beaten by a exceptional ball.

He hasn’t had a cool head all series mate, you can see him panic with his choices.

Losing Anderson is a huge blow.

Having untested players in the wrong position hasn’t helped either.

Like I’ve said roots a nice guy but struggles a bit he tries but struggles.

Our next coach needs to be someone who understands first class cricket very well maybe someone who’s been in the county scene for a while.

There are a whole host of problems with this team there is no doubt. However anyone blaming Root for getting out to that needs to give their head a wobble, pretty much unplayable ball.
The ball couldn’t be played I agree summed up his series though no luck.

I think the man is too nice and sometimes I think you need a bit of arrogance about you. I mean you can see the Aussies are ran by smith and Warner and Paine is captain by name only.

Its just the stock quote on here, football or cricket. Lose a game or get out or concede or whatever, 9 times out of 10 its just the opponent being better on the day rather than being spineless or mentally weak.

Spot on Cooky

I love watching Test cricket, course I am disappointed we are losing the Ashes, but too many people with a football mentally watching test cricket.

People get so angry, not sure how they manage to get through 5 days without exploding.

Everyone has their view on tactics, bowling changes, selection etc, but as you say its about a batsman v a bowler from 22 yards, if someone gets a good nut, it often has very little to do with the rest.

The reaction to every wicket is so over the top, "spineless", "weak", "bottled it" etc, 90mph ball that nips away and hits the top of off stump first ball, good look hitting that whoever you are

Australia have the best attack in the world, and a player who has dominating a series like no other player I have ever seen, thats cricket, take it on the chin.

Very good post welcome back

Everyone can see the test side has been neglected in favour of our shorter format teams .Could it be that the powers that be see that the future of cricket is in the shorter version of the game .
