2022 Cycling Thread

Doing the Royal British Legion Northern ride on Saturday.....been cancelled past two years for obvious reasons.....looking forward to it.....Nice day out if memory serves.

Very tempted to get out to Majorca early Oct....should have quietened down and prices might be reasonable.
Good luck Saturday

Fingers crossed we might make it out Oct half term...normally go with lads in mid September and weather generally great...too hot for some. Early October should still be very good

Anyone recommend a place locally that does bike fits? I called Infinity Cycles earlier but they don't do them anymore.
Went to John Dennis ( Physiohaus) a fair few years ago.
Be careful with bike fits, I’ve had ones in the past that I just couldn’t get away with ( not mentioning names)

Lots of videos etc which may be worth looking at initially

Bike fits very individual thing…many use different measures/methods
Nev did mine when first got TT bike and just didn’t work out for me. You will hopefully get along with it

Retul did mine. 300km and 8000m climbing in a day pain free...... Ill take that as an endorsement
Mine was retul, didn't quite sort the longstanding back issues, but still made riding far more comfortable.
Had road bike and TT bike done and the latter was particularly good.

I tend to climb mor ethab flats so set myself a little more uprightt
Yep the fit involved quite a long chat about what I wanted, what sort of riding etc I did and John went from there. He's a physio so also did quite a review of my body mechanics before even getting on the bike.
Looking back, the road bike I had done was still with clip on bars and what I used for outside and turbo sessions, much of it on bars. So never really had a pure road bike fit done from him.

Wasn't cheap mind from what I remember.

Would you cycle along the A1231 or too dicey ? Just planning ahead incase move office later year and hopefully ties in with being able start cycle again

I think there's a white painted line to indicate a cycle lane down the hard shoulder... I wouldn't be keen, I use the c2c path but that's probably not handy for a regular commute.

No…from someone who used to be fairly risk averse and think nowt of time trialling on the A19, even I draw the line at 1231.
Drive there to work and cycling on it not for me
