Not this shit again. Nearly every county has or still does play some games out of their boundaries. In some cases its financisl and in others to help spread the game/supporter base.

The main objection here stems from petty football/city rivalries and whilst I f***ing hate mags (like @Mrjardine ;) ), it has nothing to do with cricket. Durham is a regional team in my view and is much the better for it

Just hope the day goes well for Durham CCC. I'm not a fan of South North, have no reason to be and never will be hence why I'll continue to not attend a game at their ground somewhere I feel has no affiliation in any way to Durham City/County Durham/Durham Cricket Club, all my opinion.

Those who attend, I hope have a good day.

I heartily agree . Durham represents the North East in First Class Cricket . This quote,by Simon Henig, in the N Echo sums it up.
“It's crucial to connect with the community across the whole North-East and to encourage their involvement. This is the nearest international cricket ground for people across a huge area."

Sussex play games at Arundel, which is in West Sussex, and Hove ,which is in East Sussex,so Sussex play no games in Sussex, which now doesn't exist,if you know what I mean.

What's Bristol in these days? Avon, Gloucestershire or Somerset? Yorkshire played at Middlesbrough long after the boundary changes as well. Only stopped because of persistent pitch problems in the late 80s iirc?

From what i have heard Sunderlands (not played there for years) the ground is a shambles
Northumberland played a Minor Counties game at Swalwell 2/3 years ago. It is not easily accessible, except by car and bus.
Sunderland suffer from sharing the ground with the Rugby club whose pitch roughs up the outfield at one end and a lack of investment in the ground facilities. When Durham were initially looking for a ground when they applied for 1st class status Ashbrooke was an option but did not gain the support from other parts of the County.

I don't think it's the facilities that are the issue at certain grounds, it's more the money required to host them as highlighted earlier in the thread with Stockton.

Anyone any idea how Darlington and Hartlepool are fixed these days? Stockton were clearly keen so can assume they're still capable from a facilities point of view.

Stockton would need a lot of work - Pavillion was not in good shape last time I was there. They had refurbished the bar only.

Incredible reasoning. I'm not a fan of a number of football teams who I've been to see at their home grounds, should I stop going seeing as I have no affiliation with any of them?

I hope Durham continue to send games to South North each season as every time I see the fixture announced I look forward to the imaginary lines debate that happens on here. I can only imagine how nuts this place would go if they took an NFL/NBA style stance on fixtures and sent a game over to America....'But New York City doesn't fall within the ceremonial County Durham borders!!'

Durham CCC built an international standard ground to host their home games.Fuck South Northumberland CC wanting to hold a game.

We had a thread a few years ago that came up with quite a long list, mainly past but some still present .I can't be arsed to find them all again but recall that Derbyshire play in Staffs

I remember it. And all of them were proved wrong with one exception. And it wasn't DCCC. Btw the ground currently in Staffs used to be part of Derbyshire.

Bristol is in Avon but falls under the old Gloucestershire boundary. Middlesbrough falls under the old North Yorkshire boundary.
