I did have a picture book of angling, was that Mr Crabtree,a bloke and a kid?I lived on the bank of the wear so my favourite fishing author was Hugh Falkus, his target species was sea-trout,I think the wear still is the best river in England for them, you used to sit on the riverbank in the dark and listen to the salmon jumping. The glorious 16th ls looming.
Did you ever read or have a copy of MrCrabtree’s fishing book?
It was my go to as a kid. I definitely have it in the loft. Used to look at those illustrations and think of them whilst fishing the mid Thames in search of the species they were targeting.
Yo-Zuri I remember it was Harris Angling who first imported them, they did an incredible full colour Lure catalogue 20 odd years ago.Yeah using lures. I love topwaters, favourites being either the Patchinko or my Yo-zuri popper (which are discontinued now). If the waters coloured, I'll be using softbaits
