Early leavers and final whistle on Sunday

I wonder if the club could speak to the council about putting in place a park and ride system just off the A19 and M1?

Or closing the car park off until after the final whistle?

Or even sticking on a ferry down the wear? (May need a lift or two for getting up and down from the river bank mind.)

Could help solve the issue.
Think people just liked f***ing off early when we were shite and now it's a habit to be honest.

If you don’t stay for games like yesterday (and could stay) then you won’t for any. Making it easier to get out at the end would probably help though.

Wish they would stick a traffic warden or camera along kier hardie way and just fine everyone that decides to park on the double yellows. It causes people to spill onto the road with the traffic. Pointless having the double yellows there as it is

The council refused to send a warden (might change now it's under new leadership?- worth contacting them again)

Ridiculous yesterday. There was 2 cars parked blocking fans even getting off the road by the beacon and on to Keir Hardy.

It used to really wind me up, but now I think that there’s just a group of people who don’t go to the match for the match. Which I find bizarre but it’s just the same people every week and I don’t think there’s a solution.

There’s at least 3 different groups who usually arrive late and leave early for each half, just in my row.

Anybody who left before the end and without showing their appreciation to the players yesterday is a disgrace to the badge and not a real supporter.
I agree
I had my 3 year old son with me who wanted to leave after 5 mins. He was forced to stay until after the final whistle
No chance I was leaving after the performance the players put in yesterday

Extra metros at full time is and will always be the solution.

We leave our seat 2min before the final whistle so we're close to an exit when it blows and even then there has been times when me and the bairn have been stuck at st peters for an hour. If you're not on the 1st metro then you risk the earlier leavers getting on at Sunderland and leaving no room for at peters.

There should be a 30min gap with no metros from the 60th min of the match then a metro every 10min for an hour after full time.

I've thought about the park and ride before. Problem is it would only work if the roads are clear enough to get busses in and out. Kier hardie way should be bus only after the match for an hour or 2. And even a bus lane on wessingland way which only operates on match days but would be a nightmare for cars.

The club should be doing everything they can to get people in the ground sooner before kick off. Then if i was them id stop selling pints after kick off completely. No HT pints at all!

As for early leavers. The traffic is terrible. Until that is fixed its always going to happen.

I can understand people leaving five minutes early if it allows them to beat traffic to the extent is saves them an hour getting home better than I can those missing the first five minutes of the second half because they need a pint of beer

I don’t understand why people can’t just add an extra 20 or 30 minutes on to the length of time the match takes. Fair enough if there’s something important you’ve got to get away for but the vast majority are out for the day at the match.
Yesterday took us 15 minutes to get out from near the back of the concourse, stopped for a greasy burger by the cafe and by the time we got served the streets were virtually clear. I could never get my head round the mentality that you have to ‘beat’ everyone and be first to get away.
