If a player knows another club will pay them more (probability is the other club will be losing money) asking for more isn't greedy, it's just what any normal employee would do imo.Wow. I don’t really know what to make of that.
You genuinely don’t think that people who are earning £50k to £100k (and more) per week who demand more from their employer alongside the threat of leaving, whilst knowing that their employer is losing money and sometimes making cuts elsewhere, are being greedy?
And ‘elite service’? That’s quite a stretch. There are maybe 30 ‘elite’ footballers that would get into most teams playing in England (possibly less), and yet the number of footballers in England earning >£1m per annum stretches into the thousands. Do you genuinely not see that as an issue?
85% of clubs in England operate at a loss. Owners are happy to take tv rights/sponsorship money and gamble that they'll turn a profit either through league position/europe/cup win/promotion/sale of the club.
