If a player knows another club will pay them more (probability is the other club will be losing money) asking for more isn't greedy, it's just what any normal employee would do imo.

85% of clubs in England operate at a loss. Owners are happy to take tv rights/sponsorship money and gamble that they'll turn a profit either through league position/europe/cup win/promotion/sale of the club.
 

Been keeping up with the championship and league one in recent weeks and I was absolutely astounded at the bottom 7 of the champ, going to be a decent club that occupies 2 of the drop spots at a minimum in the championship.

What else has been forgotten? The stadium is superb and earns them lots of money. But Leicester couldn't afford it. They built it, moved into it in the summer of 2002, and then a couple of months later, the club went into administration with £30million of debts. Hard-working people lost out massively. The company which built the stadium was forced to just forget about the final payment of £5.5m. The East Midlands Ambulance Service was left with a shortfall of £16,000. The romance of Leicester's title win makes this kind of story easier to forget.

Sorry, it’s just annoying when people don’t know the basics and then complain, normally it’s Everton got sorted quickly why can’t Man City even though the rules changed and it was 1 V over 115.

I get the gist but sadly it’s the rules all clubs signed up to (time taken to investigate), just very few seem to understand that ha.

Remember that gonk LeicesterFan that used to say they would fill a 100,000 seater stadium and after winning the PL they were the bed boys of the top 6 and would never fall out of it? :lol:

Are you really defending the extremely wealthy men who own football clubs like they are poor little hard done by victims? They know what they're buying, they know what player wages cost, they know the club will likely lose money, but they buy them anyway, why? Because they are an asset that appreciates massively year on year, the running losses will be more than covered when they sell the club.

Again, there are a tiny amount of people skilled enough to play professional football at premier league level, the demand for them outweighs the supply, hence those players can command huge wages.

Do you not understand supply and demand? If there was a huge supply of premier league quality players, the club owners could tell players no, I'm not paying you that much, then go to someone else. But there isn't, so they can't.

Do you really think a footballer should voluntarily forgo the large wages they can get so the owners can make a yearly profit, as well as a huge profit when they sell the club? Don't be silly.

A footballers career is relatively short, their goal is to earn as much money as they can, while they can, so they can continue the lifestyle they have become accustomed to for the rest of their lives. They can get a career ending injury at any moment too.

They aren't being greedy, they are getting paid what they are worth to the owners of these clubs, who know they need them to remain in the premier league to ensure their asset continues to appreciate.

Just had a look and last time their average crowds were 20k so about a 10k drop but still good.
