How are the players greedy? They are providing clubs with an elite service that very few people on the planet can provide, it's simple supply and demand. The elite service they provide is keeping clubs in the premier league, which enables owners to cash in on the rapidly increasing revenue in football, when they sell the club. The greed is with the players and not the clubs though. So how do you reset that? Owners don’t really make any money out of being in the PL (until they sell the club for a profit), in fact they usually lose money, it’s all about ego and status for them. It’s the players that are the really greedy ones, surely - for example staff costs for Leicester in 2023 were £205m (116% of total revenue), I don’t think that the tea lady, kit man, and groundskeeper saw much of that money![]()
Won't happen unfortunately, dont get me wrong it most definitely should happen but it won't.Glad they finally got their comeuppance.
Man City next, please!
In line for a FIFA World Peace award they are so corrupt.Glad they finally got their comeuppance.
Man City next, please!
Bloke I knew back when the stadium was being built/ handed over moved from Norfolk back to Leicester to take over as head of the stadium facilities management.Basically got their stadium for free IIRC (that may have been someone else mind)
Was a bankrupt bloke on the radio.Early 2000s.
It was their actions that got the rules tightened.
I'm sure Gary Linekar was on the board at the time, but they took themselves into administration, wiped out the debt, terminated the contracts of their players, and then signed the vast majority of them back immediately on much lower wages.
Completely sorted out their finances and at the time there was no sanctions that could be used.
They got promoted and the furore caused the football authorities to start tightening the rules to stop clubs taking advantage like that again.
It’s not exactly been deal with quickly. Also how many charges were brought against Leicester?Fair enough Leicester might’ve messed up but this shows they can push these issues through without pissing around. Give mam city their penalty too lads
You’d hope so, it’s the Premier League who have charged them not the FA.Let any mention of Man City is responded with stoney silence by the FA.
Corruption of the highest order
And in most cases its the people acting on behalf of the player who are the greedy ones. Demanding massive wages to keep their client happy but then also demanding ridiculous fees themselves. How are the players greedy? They are providing clubs with an elite service that very few people on the planet can provide, it's simple supply and demand. The elite service they provide is keeping clubs in the premier league, which enables owners to cash in on the rapidly increasing revenue in football, when they sell the club.
There is a billion people who can be the tea lady, so she cannot demand big wages.
This! Leicester basically played the system and got away with it.My brother is a longtime Leicester match goer, and you're right it was over debts related to the then newly built Walker's Stadium. Iirc a lot of local businesses got hit by it.
They’re a snide shithouse club for what they did .Was a bankrupt bloke on the radio.
They were still using all his fridges/coolers in their new ground despite never paying for them.
Shite really. He was a fan too iirc.

Po - tato - Po - tatoe you get the gistIt’s not exactly been deal with quickly. Also how many charges were brought against Leicester?
Thankfully the rules have now changed but really the people comparing this to City are miles off again, it’s apples and oranges.
You’d hope so, it’s the Premier League who have charged them not the FA.
Wow. I don’t really know what to make of that. How are the players greedy? They are providing clubs with an elite service that very few people on the planet can provide, it's simple supply and demand. You're a bit all over the place with who's who mate. This was the finding of an independent Disciplinary Commission established by the Premier League, not the EFL. It doesn't matter what the Premier League or, for that matter, the EFL wanted - the decision is that of an independent body.
Tidied. They will appeal every charge one at a time it will take decades.
