I’m not sure that’s the same.

At the moment, the only way people can get away tickets is if they overtake someone with their black cat points, but given those with points get first dibs that’s mathematically impossible. However many points my son gets over the next few seasons, those with more points already will earn more making it impossible to get into phase 1 or 2

Can you explain why it's almost impossible for my youngest son to become a supporter?

He is 13, and his older brother is 20. I stand with the eldest in the south stand standing area. The 13-year-old isn't allowed to stand there or get a season ticket until he's 18. I've no idea why, as he's been able to stand unaided for years. My 20-year-old doesn't want to move, as he's stood there for years, even when he was under 18.

My 13-year-old also cannot go with his mates unless a responsible adult accompanies them. Sometimes a dad of one of his mates can go and they get tickets, but sometimes he can't, and my youngest and his mates can't go.

Why are we safeguarding an entire generation out of the game? When I was young, I paid £1.20 at the gate and watched with my mates, whoever turned up in the Fulwell. Now it's borderline impossible to give the club your money. Just trying to share tickets requires setting up networks and friends and family.

We need to make it easier to attend, or the next generations won't bother.

There are many who think the current system is fair. The people with the most points get first dibs at tickets. .....then downwards.

The people who think it is fair are people with BCP as you say, but also there are many who agree who don’t have any, or only a few, points

There are also a few who seem to want to change things to suit themselves, immediately.

Patience is a virtue.

No they will still miss games they would not have. They don’t have an exclusive right to go to every game forever, they have never had that. They just went to loads of games and gained loads of points when others didn’t. Everyone had the same chance. Why do you have low points and why do you want it to change now?

I’d prefer it to change now because we can’t get tickets with low points. Wouldn’t mind taking the kids. Wembley was their first away game and they still talk about it. They were gutted we missed out on Everton tickets after I made out we would be going. Only other game we’ve had a chance of was Brighton, through family, but offered them the day before and to be honest I didn’t fancy the 5/6hr drive each way with 2 kids in the car (7&9).

It’s only over the next couple of year I’d want to try a couple more away games. Their first home game was the 4-4 against hull. I spent pretty much every goal trying to stop one of them crying because of the noise. So they definitely weren’t old enough to be going to away days. They’ve stuck with the home games since though and both Sunderland daft now.

My low points are down to having 3 under 10’s and priorities being elsewhere to go away every other weekend over the last few year.

But luckily now we are in the prem it’s fine, well apart from if it’s a long drive against a non glamour team
 
Simple fact is, current way is the best and fairest.
I say that as someone with a about 12 points and no skin in the game.
Its the best and fairest as long as everyone who is intending to attend an away game buys one to do that.
It falls down when they do so and don't go.....however you wanna phrase that

I pay about 3k to 4k for that right and put up that amount for 3/4 seasons to keep that right for this season. So aye

founders and 76 yards aren't included in the corporate away tickets allocation but I think the rest is . Not guaranteed tickets for games either as there's more demand than tickets at the min , though there is a lot more chance of getting them than anywhere else if you dont have enough points for the phases . Been some games this seasons we wanted tickets for but couldn't get them , though have managed to get most we wanted
 
As well as the question of what is a fair or unfair system of distribution, it’s also important to think of the atmosphere and volume the away end create at the game.

It’s commonly accepted here that this seasons away ends have been poor compared to last seasons which seems odd given the promotion and the excitement generated by the lads performance in the PL.

Could it be that the high pointers (who, with a few exceptions, will naturally be a bit older etc) are actually attending more away games this year due to the novelty of the PL? I suspect tha last year, loads more tickets got passed on to the youger, dafter lads who will always generate more noise and atmosphere?

The club need to consider how to get an atmosphere in the away end rather than a load of middle aged men (and I include myself in this) reminiscing about how shit Cheltenham away was back in the day.

I’m middle aged and thought Cheltenham away was great (football is about more than the football). Rotherham 1-5 and Bolton 0-6 surely better bets for the low point :cool:

I think it's definitely the case that high pointers are attending more games. Obviously some have always done every game but the fact a lot of championship games went to 10 points, or all season ticket holders, suggests there wasn't anything near to 3000 who went every week so it must be the case that more high pointers are going to more games.

I don't think age is really an issue though. The league one and championship years were great for lads of about 15 plus to get into going to grounds all over the place, there was plenty of tickets so probably didn't need many getting passed on. There's a good number of groups of lads who are now 18-30 or so and it's likely that age range probably contributes a fair bit (not all) of the chanting and singing. The age thing only really becomes a concern if those same age groups can't get tickets in the next decade, at that point it would be skewing really old, but that's not going to happen overnight and I think it's certain demand will drop over the coming seasons
