Thoughts on Everton's new ground?

Controversial opinion here but would have been an opportunity to rebrand and get rid of Z Cars song 😆 appreciate there may be some nostalgia with the older fans but I've always found it dreadful.
You could say the same about Wise Men Say, I'm forever blowing bubbles, You'll never walk alone etc. There are some things which are just part of a club's history and should be kept, they give it its character and keep fans together.

Our home fans are very reactive rather than bouncing around with drums and flags during the game.

If there is something to cheer about on the pitch, a crap ref giving everything the oppositions way or we're the underdog / fighting for our lives the home crowd is fantastic.

If its midtable with little jeopardy or we're playing awful football we can be quiet. Mind its like that at most English grounds these days.

Was like that at Goodison as well its nothing new.
Yous were very quiet today but Spurs were a LOT worse. Personally think your stadium is breathtaking, unique in a sense and the panel at the back of the stand adds an almost greenhouse effect. Can see it being a very special place if you ever have a top side.

The toilets are a disgrace for a new build, league one stadiums had better. Catering facilities good, I feel you also have a great setup around the ground.

I was shocked how bad you lot were. I think you’ve done well to be so high in the league. We are generally tepid away from
Home and very poor in first halves but today we were the best side for 100 of the 120 minutes, last 20 mins of the second half aside.

Think one day Everton will have a degree of success and that stadium gives the great backdrop. Feels like the good relations between the 2 clubs continued today. Liverpool is a fantastic city too. I wouldn’t mind LFC if it wasn’t for all the arseholes who crow about them but never go. Will always prefer Everton as a result. Moyes aside there is a lot to like.

Tbf, DotK and Ready to go. We did.
They're (not as much but) ingrained id say now

Thought it was canny average all things considered. The atmosphere was poor, but perhaps that's just down to their fans sitting in silence. That said I don't think the sound seemed to carry well.

The toilet situation was a bit of a joke, hardly any urinals and took ages to get served.

Fan zone/dj outside the ground was canny.
It looks poor when you watch it on tv, they've got several areas close to the touchline where they should have seats for fans but it's just big areas of space for whatever reason, it looks rubbish, a bit like that large area at Old Trafford now behind one of the goals.

How do you like the ground compared to GP, out of interest?

Love it mate. A ground befitting of European football just a shame the squad isnt there just yet.

Feels like home on the docks, dont get me wrong it can be a ballache getting away from the ground but I enjoy the walk up and once the surrounding area has been redeveloped I think it'll be a thriving place.

Goodison was/is special and I've been back this season to watch the women's team but it wasnt fit for premier league football in the year 2025.

Bought two pints of Budwiser..Tried to get card to work about five times. Eventually she just said take them. Thought either and got away with one or being scammed to fuck. Thankfully it was the former

The E /AI bar, whatever it is was canny like..

Seemed like magic to some people like, especially those who didn't know we have a version of it in the south stand

As we were walking back up towards Albert Dock we were saying it ripe down here now for investment. Out of curiosity do the boozers down that way get much trade away from matchdays?

Yeah. Great that you could keep Goodison for the WSL. 👍

It’s got the wow factor on the outside but not so much on the inside, feels a little bit soulless, but maybe new stadiums take a while for it to become a home I know the stadium of light did for a lot of people. It’s obviously a very good stadium but as daft as it sounds and not sure if it’s more for nostalgia reasons I think I preferred going to Goodison! Uber driver was banging on about location being a bit of a mare for that size venue with it being pretty much one road in and out and them closing it off quite a distance away a while before and after the game. I am sure the area around will improve and it will become a good home for Everton for the next 100 years regardless!

errrr a wee bit like the SOL?? 😉 Whisper it mate, but football fans share more traits than some of us admit to on a fan forum🤣🤣🤣

Once through the wall and the scanners I liked the fan zone area with food sellers, people mixing with no problem. We walked all the way round and the river side was rather soulless, a bit zeppelin-like and very few fans around. But getting in was easy 20 mins before ko and we had a great view in block 120. You can pick away at its faults but I can imagine the place will rock when they get a good team going.

Same negatives as everyone else, toilets are a disgrace. I queued entire half time to finally get to the bar and be told they aren’t serving anymore. Staff completely and utterly clueless. Maybe its different when home fans are up in the top tier but away fans up there for cup games will be frequent so it should have been prepared.

Other than that, loved it. Amazing views and result to go with it.

Good stadium but it felt like it was lacking something that made it feel Everton, small thing but having the pictures and stats of former players makes is something that would make it better rather than grey walls
great idea pal!! glad you made it to Dicky Hill and got the result (said through gritted teeth! 😬) Hope your trip home was safe and happy
