Thoughts on Everton's new ground?

Good stadium but it felt like it was lacking something that made it feel Everton, small thing but having the pictures and stats of former players makes is something that would make it better rather than grey walls
We've made similar complaints about that but it will come. We haven't even been in the stadium for a season yet and we're going to be in it for decades to come, so it's not like it's the finished article and will never improve.

Goodison looked pretty nice in the end but if you went back 15 years then it didn't exactly look brilliant as far as the art goes.

Like everything new, our new home will present problems of one sort or another for supporters (both home and visiting) The obvious one at present is the logistics of actually getting to, and leaving, the stadium. To use that tired old cliche "Rome wasn't built in a day" ironing out problems will take both time, and effort from all parties. Ten years from now, I'm confident that Dicky Hill stadium will be a functioning and much-loved ground for Evertonians and visitors alike!

Few nice little pubs around the ground and plenty room, impressive from outside walking up, outside concourse with the food vans was quality, no toilets in lower took ages which was shit, food and machines very quick, view inside was impressive. Best of the new grounds I think.

Thought the ground was great, bit of a trek from city centre but the ground itself and stewarding etc was top notch. Lacked a bit atmosphere for a crowd that size but could be down to an early kick off which generally takes the edge off it.
We were in the safe standing area and shows how simple it is to accomodate.

@TheSpecial1 That was a nice review marra! Thank you! Sorry to hear about the "toilets issue" (I hope they get it fixed by May 17 mate! or I'll have to bring me incontinence kecks!)

Our home fans are very reactive rather than bouncing around with drums and flags during the game.

If there is something to cheer about on the pitch, a crap ref giving everything the oppositions way or we're the underdog / fighting for our lives the home crowd is fantastic.

If its midtable with little jeopardy or we're playing awful football we can be quiet. Mind its like that at most English grounds these days.

Was like that at Goodison as well its nothing new.
To be fair it had a typical brand new stadium feel, spurs was the same. Very fragmented support still which is understandable. The time it eventually got going the acoustics were class and it was loud. Give it time and once the singers all shuffle together it will be better. The trouble with that is you might only have one end for the atmosphere which is what happened at the sol

great idea pal!! glad you made it to Dicky Hill and got the result (said through gritted teeth! 😬) Hope your trip home was safe and happy
what's that old brick building near the stadium in the plaza bit? 1866 i think it said it was built? i thought it looked class as i love old industrial buildings like that. i'm guessing it's sort of protected.
i also noticed on the plaza bit there was some old railway lines.

Like that at SOL many a game. There’s no shame in it if there is nothing to get behind.

Stadium was visually impressive from outside, also inside. A huge upgrade on goodison no doubt.
Lower concourse seemed huge but not so much once filled, toilets are a shambles, nowhere near enough and design was poor that it wasn’t a walk through system, literally had to swim back up stream against the traffic to get out. Thought it was mega slow getting out as it wasn’t big enough for flow of traffic, same applied getting away from the ground, if you were rushing to get back to city centre you’d be in trouble

You on about the Liverpool Tobacco Warehouse? I googled it, not read about it yet, because the building was class. Really impressive old structure.

It is a fantastic building. They don’t seem to have made any progress with the intended apartments over the past five years.

Sounds like you mean the pump house ?? 2nd section down on this link

Same negatives as everyone else, toilets are a disgrace. I queued entire half time to finally get to the bar and be told they aren’t serving anymore. Staff completely and utterly clueless. Maybe its different when home fans are up in the top tier but away fans up there for cup games will be frequent so it should have been prepared.

Other than that, loved it. Amazing views and result to go with it.

The bog near block 120 had just three urinals 😂

i thought it was one of the best of the 'new' grounds and certainly better than spurs. the bit outside with the bars/food places were good even though we never bought anything. we walked round the ground and it was great to see both sets of fans mingling-like it should be tbh (apart from them lot up the road)
whilst it was impressive i enjoyed looking at the older buildings around like the clock tower over the way behind the south stand and that big brick building in the middle of the fanzone. might be a bit sad but whenever i see old brick buildings like that i think of the tradesmen who built it, all the craft and work that went into it. don't know what it was or used to be but it was beautiful. @EverBlue86 might be able to tell me about it?
as for inside, we had cracking seats. the music was far too loud and only heard the home fans a couple of times. all in all, the best out of the three new grounds this last week i've been to.

Was a Hydraulic Tower marra used to power the machines on the dock etc.

Its grade listed so as part of the stadium build it was renovated/protected. Sure I read the club are looking to make it acccessible inside and put in a museum/cafe

no, it was the pump house/hydraulic tower. i'd googled it just before this reply.

cheers mate. there's some quite interesting stuff around there. the victoria clock tower is another good one. not so much now but i used to go to seaforth docks quite a bit in the wagon. it's a shithole but some amazing old buildings around there.
buildings like that need to be preserved.

Lack of toilets is absolutely bizarre, I’d imagine around the ground will be class in time, loads of scope for small bars in the arches type areas around
