Is Durham cricket club a mag place?

'The Lads'

Plastic Mag arseholes.
'Let's roar on the lads together'

Absolutely disgraceful
Durham Cricket Club is impartial..........its player catchmnet area is pretty much the whole of North England from Middlesborough up to the border of Scotland............the membership will be heavily loaded with Sunderland fans though......Ben Mckinney who opens batting was once on Sunderland's books as a youngin and there are many more who ll support both Sunderland or Newcastle.
Doesn't look very impartial

I actually know a mag from CLS and he’s anything but plastic. Been a season ticket holder for decades. Sound bloke as well and not what many on here would deem a ‘typical mag’. He enjoys a night out on the drink in Sunderland as it happens. Like anywhere, there will be both staunch and plastic black and whites and red and whites.
I know a fair few from CLS from the days I was going every weekend.

I know very little about Durham CCC but I do recall they sent representation to a meeting of the SAFCSA London Branch in the 90s to drum up support and ask for investment so there must have been some affiliation or understanding between the clubs at that point - why would they come all the way to a meeting in London on the off chance?

The bar has nowt to do with the cricket club.

However it's a business like any other pub so will show games all the time.

Worth noting the play off final a few month back, the place was absolutely packed with Sunderland fans

As for the cricket club, they have a very good working relationship with Sunderland AFC and have done for many many years.

Im from Durham (Willington) initially and Im approaching 50. It was mainly SAFC growing up /at school (70/30?) until the Keegan years which levelled it out sadly. Got a lot worse after that and I think they're in the majority from what I see/hear when back through there. A lot of non attenders mind.

Durham mags are some of the loudest/worst without a doubt. Making up for not being from the Toon. Met more sensible ones (they do exist) on this side.

I am a bit conflicted on where you live dictating who you support mind. My kids were born in the RVI and we live over this side (Whitley Bay) but they're both R&W (and Id disown them if they switched). 😅

Probably is riddled with Mags but in fairness we've only had two televised fixtures this season. There's so many plastic Mags who don't go to games so there's more demand to see them on TV.
Four now isn’t it? Villa, Forest, Everton and Arsenal.

A pub in CLS showing a Newcastle game is not unusual. Most pubs in County Durham will be the same and probably on Wearside as well.
Advertising exclusively mags games? Describing the mags as 'the lads' and posting pics of mags tops and no mention of any Sunderland games? Even ignoring the cricket club element I think that's pretty bad in Chester le Street, Co Durham

What about Tynesiders who are MLF?
Nothing wrong with individual people from both side of the divide to defect. Happens all the time. Families, kids growing up being contrary etc.

What I have a problem with is supposedly MLF areas having significant scum tendencies. I'm talking CLS and other Durham villages. Can you name any similar area in North Tyneside that support us in similar fashion? I can't.

By right any place South of the Wear should all be supporting Safc 100%. We already have a massive problem with our catchment area. Most of it is in the North Sea. We should be trying to take back these hinterlands.

SE Northumberland, especially Ashington have a fair few Sunderland supporters from pit connections, to be fair.

We're just not morons who go shouting about it every 10 minutes unlike plastic Durham Mags.
