Is Durham cricket club a mag place?

How many pubs through there advertise their support for Sunderland and show all our games?

None it wouldn't be accepted and it shouldn't be here

By right any place South of the Wear should all be supporting Safc 100%. We already have a massive problem with our catchment area. Most of it is in the North Sea. We should be trying to take back these hinterlands.

When was CLS ever massively SAFC over NUFC?
Been plenty of both as long as I have been old enough to drink and that’s since Mid 80’s.

Fair enough marra. Good point.

I'm was more on about areas you can drive around and see R&W strips out and about. Thats what its like around CLS sometimes.

I've got mates round Ashington way and I've never seen a lads strip round there at all.

Saying that, that does validate your point about Durham plastic mags trying to be the loudest and proudest mags going. Scumbags

There was/is a pub I’ve seen mentioned on here in the Tynemouth area that was a meeting point for all our games on tele for local lads fans who lived there, the Cumberland Arms iirc.

It never has been. It’s always just been a town in its own right that sits near enough in the middle of the two cities and unsurprisingly has a split of support. If anything Newcastle is massively advantaged with the A1 and railway making it far easier to get to and from Newcastle. Obviously most people won’t choose to support someone because of how easy it is to get to, but it could be a factor for floating/casual fans or kids whose parents weren’t into football.

The river has nowt to do with it though. The town is equal in distance from the two cities.

Aye but it's nowt to do with the cricket club. A north east pub advertising a north east football team on tele in their pub is nothing unusual

However as I pointed out, that pub (Durham were at home that day) was absolutely rammed for the play off final and the pub put on a good selection for everyone so they made the effort that day for Sunderland fans.

No, made up boundaries or rivers aren’t a deciding factor in who a kid chooses to support and I find it strange how fixated this place seems to be about that. Gateshead town centre is historically County Durham and you can literally see St James from the high street. Blaydon also historically County Durham. Again, why would anyone expect Blaydon to be a Sunderland area just because it’s in County Durham? I could go on. Other than family influence, it’s just basic geography that dictate who most people choose to support and so it’s not surprising for a town in the middle of Sunderland and Newcastle to be broadly split in support.

A pub in county Durham, inside the stadium of county Durham cricket club, openly showing it's support solely for the mags doesn't sit right with me like
 
Wouldn’t have thought Durham CC was a mag place,plenty of MLF go and watch them and some of the players support Sunderland

Aye get you. To be honest don't really see many people wearing kits in general around here including mags bar a match day.

Like I know I wouldn't because it's just a bit scratter really.

Well Im a townie originally but I was always under the impression that county Durham was traditionally a Sunderland supporting area

Obviously I have been wrong all this time

It's surprised me moving to around this area how black and white it seems to be

That gets said but I’m not really sure why the county has ever come into it, there has always been parts of it with black and white support. Less the further east you get obviously.
