Durham v Somerset (h) 23/5/25

Very strong batting line up but we look weaker bowling wise. Raine 2 young lads and Yusuf who’s been up and down and I guess Ackerman for a few overs of part time spin

Potts is an ECB employee not a Durham one. In one of the games he missed he was replaced by Carse, also an ECB employee. The problem is that Durham haven't adequately replaced them but that's not an easy task.
Also gives an opportunity for promising academy products but they needed to be carefully nurtured.

It’s frustrating I admit, but this is cricket, counties produce the players then when England take over their wages then they have their say

I doubt we would have the batting order we do if we had Carse n Potts on the books

I agree we are missing 1 quality seamer I think

Btw I am really warning to Gay, he’s pretty steady

Interesting he's in the Lions - doesn't give a Bazball impression

Not only do England players go off their county salary bill counties are compensated by ECB for their loss as much as £100k per annum for a player who plays all 3 formats. So currently we'll be compensated for 4 players which I suspect will be an extra £300k +.
Currently our bowling complement is thin but I'm confident that both Minto and Hogg will develop into quality seamers, possibly Killeen also.
Connors has failed to impress but I would have liked us to have extended Ball's loan.
Missed a trick there,I think.

Agee with all of this

Anyone there. Watched a bit this morning, is pitch doing a bit? 4 down isn’t good

Shot of a player out of touch by Bedders. Gay wasn't much better. McKinney and Lees - fair enough, out to good deliveries. Somerset attack not that threatening so far.

Ah loose shots?
