Durham v Somerset (h) 23/5/25

Potts confirmed as staying with England cos he’s in the one day squad. Rew is on his way to Durham
McCullum has been reading this board and getting his revenge on the golf critics 😀
Carse also withdrawn from Durham squad.
Killeen and Parkinson added for tomorrow 's squad.

David Bedingham remains in the squad and is in contention to play having not been cleared by South Africa ahead of the Nottinghamshire game last week

Why was that and for what reason?

The squad doesn’t look balanced without Potts or Carse.
It looks as if Ben and Codi are the main seamers with Minto coming on as third seamer but will be limited in number of overs bowled.
I think you have to play Parkinson primarily to take up some of the work load during the sessions

Or Killeen as 4th seam with Ackerman the 2nd spin option. Noticeably Cambo said that Drissell is the number 1 spinner.

If bedingham plays, and it looks like he will injury permitting, then it's hard to see which of the batsmen miss out.
If you assume lees and McKinney play because they're the openers, then one of Ackerman, Gay or Clark drop out.
McKinney has the worst average so far, but he's a specialist opener.
I reckon it might be Gay, as unjust as that would be.

Will minto play? Will Killeen play and if they both do does that mean there'll be two bowlers on restricted overs?
I guess one of minto and Killeen will play plus Parky.

Somerset's bowling attack is very impressive. Matt Henry, Overton, Pretorious, Gregory, Leach and Vaughan.
5 international bowlers and an England A team spinner.
We have Yousef, Raine, Minto, Drissell, Killeen, Parky and Ackerman to pick from ???
The restrictions on young bowlers do not apply in 1st class cricket, so that helps a little.
I Fear that they outgun us ?

A strong Somerset attack with Henry certainly a worry but it appears we'll have an equally impressive batting line up. Seems there'll be weather interruptions so a high points for each team draw seems to be the most likely outcome.
Whilst age restriction bowling mightn't apply we don't want to overbowl Minto.

I think I'd bat. Tomorrow's and Monday's weather doesn't ,ook too clever so today might be best for batting.

Of course, if it doesn't turn out that way we should definitely have bowled!😃
