Chris Mepham

O’Nien will be targeted by Coventry to get him sent off
Don’t think Coventry are like that
Course they can 😂

A rule change in 2018 permitted players away from their parent club to immediately feature for them in any additional matches, such as games in the play-offs.

Loans are now dated until the beginning of the next registration period, meaning those players away on loan, like Idah or Kamara or others, would not be eligible to feature for City should they qualify for the play-offs.

Unless it’s a different situation with MePham

He was great when he first came into the side I wouldn’t say he wasn’t. He’s been bang average for quite a while now though
This applies to most of the team, even Le Fée has been dragged down to mediocrity after his initial great start.

Yeah I couldn’t believe that either. 45 games playing Neil as the 6 or even centre half and he decides to change it on game 46.
This is the issue, not the actual experiment itself. He's had the last few months really knowing we'd be in the playoffs and hadn't tried anything different in midfield. He also hadn't given Mayneda and Isidor another run together up front, similar to how he played against the top teams.

Dodds wasn't a great success but one thing you could see was that it tried to vary the shape in midfield.

That rule is for players we have out on loan. For example, we couldn’t recall Triantis from Hibs and play him in playoffs. Mepham/Le Fee are fine

I’ve watched their goal a few times es yesterday and there is a fair bit of culpability from a few players. Firstly their wide man went past Cirkin as if he wasn’t there which was a concern, O, nien didn’t need to go over to that side as his man who scored was already goal side of Jobe who let’s be honest strolled back as if it was a kick about. Mepham and Hume kept their position well and I have no issue. Combined O,nien,Cirkin,Jobe share that one.

Post match on the radio back at the car Benno and whoever was presenting were speaking as if it's gospel it'll be O'Nien and Ballard Friday.
I'd be happy with that. Mepham got absolutely tortured in the league down there. Ballard is out biggest, strongest defender. Has to play for me.

O'Nien has got to go towards the ball.

Mepham must at least try to close down the man with the ball shaping to shoot. He's stood still several times this season in similar positions, it's absolutely bizarre. It's basic defending.

The ball is the lost important thing in football. Not retaining shape.

He has been one of our best signings albiet on loan. Any CB would have a dip in form playing the way we do. We invite so much pressure. I m not a huge Ballard fan. Just think he causes too much panic but can see why people would want him back in. I think it’s a bit late to be trying 3 CBs and I can’t see the French Southgate suddenly dropping one of his regular starters

I can't believe the drop off in his performances in the second half of the season. He looked so imperious at times, but now resembles a bog standard Championship defender. Bizarre.

Would Ballard alongside him help raise his game or should he be on the bench for the playoffs?
They're all playing as crap as each other. Shan to single anyone out

They don’t. Bit on this occasion, imho that was oneins fault. He left his area and got stuck in no man’s land.

I love 09 and he’s been immense this season, but recently I just feel his performances have been a bit shakey and less solid.

That said, to any ref that wasn’t blind he should have made amends by getting us a pen against the ginger piss biscuit
The way we set up puts a lot of pressure on the 2 CBs. Playing as deep as we do just invites hopeful balls pumped into the danger area. We have a keeper behind them who lets be honest doesn’t command his 6 yard box never mind his 18 yard one so the 2 CBs have to deal with pretty much every ball pumped in there. If RLB is insistent playing like this then for me there’s an argument to play 3 CBs.

That just goes to show how utterly clueless Le Bris is

Mepham has just as many as Onien
Same thing will happen if the back line is changed. Ballard has been making mistakes and moving like a tanker for an age. Mepham was rinsed a few times yesterday as well by their cf. Its just championship football. We have one of the best defensive records in the league, we just invite too much pressure on ourselves now and don't get back in numbers to help

Agreed with this, however one of the 2 current centre backs seems immune from criticism
Onien gets criticised constantly on here. People even saying mepham is constantly covering for him which is a complete lie.

I would go Ballard and mepham next Friday regardless.

Got a horrible feeling he will bite, I think the form has been weighing on the bloke. There’s one thing I’ll never aim at onien is the fact he does care. Many other players I do wonder but I can see it means a lot to onein which can be a weakness at times.
