Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

This is what bob said

"If this is true I will go crackers.
Tommy's deal has been done and he will miss the last 4 games and any playoffs.
Brighton have put this in the deal.
And we have agreed to it, now not a fact but came from an agent based in Wembley.
So don't shoot me till I get it confirmed."
Thank god it's not the last 5 games.

Brighton have just completed a deal for an 18 year old South Korean winger on a 4 year deal apparently.
Means nowt tbh they’ll just loan him out

The expectation would be that he continues his development away from the Prem – on loan in Europe, remaining with his current club for time being or a combination of the two.

My knowledge of football transfer deals is as limited aa any fan but why would someone post such utter nonsense 😁

So Brighton have agreed a huge deal for watson who was injured at the time of his medical, came back to sunderland and has started playing in the first team again. However he must not play for SAFC after 12 April game against Swansea. Isn't the Internet brilliant

Can't be arsed to read up on developments: is this just a loose rumour or has anything surfaced so far that corroborates that a deal has been made?

That’s mad Bob for you, completely full of shit.

One day one of his wacky rumours might actually come true, then again….

Is it actually a step up for him?

In terms of playing for a Premier League team over a Championship team it is, but would he go into their first team? Probably not.

So they loan him out or he plays for their U21s.

Can't imagine him getting a loan any higher than Championship level and their U21s are currently four points ahead of ours having played two games more.

From a football point of view it looks like a step further away from first team football.

I like him, he looks a good prospect, but maybe the club are looking at the money we got for Clarke and thinking £8m-£10m or whatever figure has been chucked about is a good price for him.
The club want the money

Maybe they think that Mundle is better and they want the money to help strengthen elsewhere

Time will tell I guess

Rightly or wrongly that is at least a strategy - a championship club without parachute money has to cash in on an asset or 2 and it makes sense if its one with a player who's as good if not better already in place to play the sold players position.

Appreciate what you are saying but we need to be back in the premier league asap otherwise clubs like Brighton will pick off our best players. Particularly disappointing with Watson as a local lad and SAFC family by all accounts.

If the owners just want to create a player farm with no real desire to get promoted we could be in the Championship for a long time.

Some more shrewd investment in January could have really seen us have a good go for automatics. That ship has sailed and we have lost all momentum sadly.
