Jack Clarke

You don't sign new players because you've got people injured for 'weeks' man. Mundle will be playing again in February, as will Watson most likely. Are we really going to bring Jack Clarke back and stifle them on the bench, in order to select a loanee we've already had and sold? They are the future, we need to give them a pathway to the 1st team.
Spot on.
Stupid, unnecessary, panic and dubious buys have got us into serious financial trouble twice this century already.
Having four international goalkeepers on our books at the same time didn’t indicate any sign of a cunning plan. This regime is the first in my 57yrs of SAFC related suffering that appear to have any sort of theoretical thinking behind its operations. Beale apart obviously.

It’s a lot to ask to rest your top 2 chances on the return of 2 young players who’ve been out for a long time injured who are very raw.

Watson in particular played a handful of games, how’s he now suddenly going to be a major spearhead towards the PL?! Clarke being here would have resulted in a lot more points for us if he had stayed fit.
When Mundle and Watson were fit, absolutely literally nobody anywhere was lusting after Jack Clarke. We didn't miss him.

Its only because we've got a couple of injuries overlapping each other (typical) that now we have to pretend that we've been desperate for him all season.

They haven't been out for a 'long time' either, you're talking about 2 or 3 months each. We were 2 points clear at the top of the table the last time Mundle played btw, if we're on about promotion and being too young and raw. We've had 2 teenagers in CM all season and if we're 3 points off the top.

Aye, about a 30% drop when you have more than half less money.
So you know their contracts? They have mainly bought Championship players and given them pay rises. I suspect that those wages will reduce if they become championship players again, or, if they attract interest from premier league teams, sold for a profit.

There's no chance their money will return to their previous levels, none at all.

Perhaps not, but it won't stay premier league or anywhere near, unless the board are financial idiots. They have taken a risk but even if relegated, they are stronger playing wise and financially.

So it's not a problem to have a dozen players on £25K+ a week? Clarke was £15K a week here. A £15M signing isn't accepting less than £50K a week

25k is probably top end championship wages. Clarke was rumoured to be on 20k a week when he was here.

Wages are a mess for 95% of most clubs that bounce between the premier league and the championship

In relegation they may do. Most of these signings were championship players, getting a big pay rise, they might not have had any better offers, Clarke for example. Parachute payments will more than likely cover their wages, unless they are sold of course.

Well they won't be selling Clarke for a profit, that is for sure.
Because of the way they have handled him, he has achieved fuck all. Probably gone backwards in his developement.

They may not, but if back in the Championship they have one of the league's best players, and can afford to pay him his relegation wage.
