Jack Clarke

I think the club have always had a succession plan in place by bringing in young players to step in when we have sold players and Jack Clarke is a part of that. The facts are we had Mundle in reserve and a young g Tommy Watson there for the next one, but got his chance earlier due to the injury to Mundle. It’s all well and good saying bring Clarke in etc but what about when these lads return what the do we just say cheers lads for your efforts but Jack is back. I think we should move on and forget all about Jack Clarke as we have more than enough in the side to cope with it. Clarke was a fantastic player for us and most fans thankfully don’t forget that, but he’s gone and we’ve moved on.
 

I'd obviously take him back in the morning, but he's never coming back here.

Aside from anything else, Ipswich aren't going to want the PR disaster of loaning back a player they spent a significant amount of money on to his old club, 6 months later.

It would be suicide for their recruitment team.

Why? We've got Mundle and Watson, and when they've been fit we frankly haven't missed Clarke. They need to be played and developed, not stifled by loaning back a player we just sold.

I agree with this.

They knew Mundle was ready and crucially that they have an absolute star in Tommy Watson who needs room to play and develop

Signing JC again would be a problem for that plan and won't happen

In my humble opinion, Tommy will be the best of the 3 in the not too distant future

We would need 3 players for each position if we worried about that and that is not workable.
Yeah, of course cover IS needed, but things can happen at any time and rotation of the available squad or a change in tactics is what separates the good coaches from the great ones.

We have cover for other positions, midfield has just seen Le Fee brought in, Samed just come back from injury and Aleksic just getting his starting minutes.

LW only has Adil and Mayenda, neither of which are wingers. We're down to the absolute bare bones and will be for some time in waiting for Mundle and Watson to come back.

IF and that's a huge IF Clarke was available, it's a player of such quality at this level, it would be mental not to bring him in for the push. It's unlikely to happen tho.

On one hand coming back is a bit of a blow to his ego .. making another drop down after another aborted Premier league career gets stalled.

But what's Worse than that does he just keep getting passed over for Broadhead etc ...

If he's not seriously wondering about his options right now ... even wondering if there is any possibility of coming back then I'd be very surprised. Fight for a start here must be more of a viable choice than fretting endlessly about staying at Ipswich...who clearly don't rate you enough

Exactly. Sick of people making excuses for him. He wanted to leave. He left. Leave him to it. We will wave at him as we swap leagues at the end of the season. He could have been a legend here but chose money at a shit club like Ipswich, he didn’t even leave for a bigger club man. They were always coming straight back down.
 
Clarke is still a part of McKenna’s plans at Ipswich. He might not be a starter right now but he’s regularly coming off the bench and always seems to be in the match day squad.

I’m sure Clarke will be working hard in training trying to force his way into the side.

Unless he’s desperately pining for a pink slice I can’t see him giving us a second thought.

I always thought Clarke (and a few others) were bought with one eye on the championship next season, like a lot of their other signings.

They'll be a strong side looking to challenge again when they come back down.

This exactly. They bought some of the better Championship players, probably with relegation clause contracts. If they stay up, great, if not, they have one of the best squads in the league and money in the bank for the next promotion push.

He left for Premier League football, a Premier League salary and because his club were also willing sellers. He continued to give 100% for the cause until he left.

And Ipswich are a good club with ambition. There’s nowt to be salty about with his exit whatsoever.

I’m not salty. Just wouldn’t like him back. We have two kids more than capable of filling his shoes.
 
If there was an option to bring him back, Id not be opposed to it. However, if Mundle was fit I dont think we'd be giving it a second thought right now as fans.
Theyve just signed Phillogiene (spelling probably terrible) so he could be even further down the pecking order.

But they've just signed another left winger, which you'd imagine pushes Clarke even further out of the picture when he's already limited to 5-10 minute cameo appearences.
