Rhodes can play the role of 4th seamer in place of the unavailable Carse which opens a place for McKinney. There's also new signing Sam Connors as back up seamer.I can't see McKinney getting in
Team might look something like this -
Lees
Gay
Rhodes
Bedingham
Ackermann
Robinson
Carse *
Raine
(Overseas bowler)
Potts*
Parkinson
Carse and Potts may be withdrawn by England so their places would likely be filled by deLeede and Coughlin.
2nd team captain.Seeing those potential batting orders could this be the end for Scotty Borthwick ?
For Durham before anyone wades in![]()
Won't be too long before we're being told in advance who's fielding where, when the bowling changes are going to be made and who's having what for lunch on Day 2You must be logged on to see media items
They’re just trying to be funky now
Moving pope down is sensible mindLiterally just had this conversation with a mate, they’re really pissing me off now with these zany selections.
Bethell bats 5 or 6 for Warwickshire and has a FC average, from just 20 games, of 25. Last season was particularly shite from him. Seriously, what the f*ck about him can they possibly think is worthy of batting 3 in Tests for England?
Now as usual with this sort of thing I would like nothing more than to see him score several hundreds on this Tour and become the greatest number 3 that world cricket has ever known. But, I’m fairly confident we aren’t going to see that.
Just like with the selection of Cox and even with the continued selection of Bashir, it’s getting to the point where I’m worried they’re just trolling us now.
I mean it's no real different to opening with Lawrence and we've batted Rehan at 3 a couple of times tooThey’re just trying to be funky now
Called Bethell getting picked, had him at 7 mind not 3You must be logged on to see media items
Utterly ridiculous. Setting the lad up for failure. You must be logged on to see media items
Excellent post mate spot on, we have senior experienced cricketers who should be fronting up to bat in a problem position, yet it’s been put on a debutant who normally doesn’t bat there in the first place.I mean it's no real different to opening with Lawrence and we've batted Rehan at 3 a couple of times too
So that ship had already sailed.
But as Pope couldn't bat 3 someone had to. Rather than them using their heads and going one of us senior players Root/Stokes should front up at bat 3. Instead they've put extra pressure on a young lad who they had no intention of playing till 2 days ago.
I'm sure Bethell with the overconfidence of youth has happily stuck his hand up. Wanting to proof he's fearless in this we don't care if you fail mantra they all sing. But we rushed in Pope in the past batting 4 when he'd never batted above 6 before. But this was a swashbuckling averaging 80 batsman in FC cricket.
The adults in the room need to stop taking the piss out of test cricket and just going off vibes.
That being said go well Jacob, I sincerely hope he scores runs. Robinson has to be called up for the second test that being said.

Root isn't wrong about Hagley being a good place to bat.You must be logged on to see media items
Exactly. Would be daft not to in this situation. If England bat first, surely you keep Pope at 3?
