Chris Rigg

2nd half, at 4-0. He was taken off on 78 minutes maybe a few minutes before. It was near halfway over towards the East Stand.

The ball broke, it was a good yard closer to the Sheffield player and I thought ooo he might get hurt here and he just moved very slightly towards the ball and just stood his ground. It was a weird, this kid is very clever way beyond his years moment.

Think Gazza doing his cruciate for a young lad being stupid. This was the complete opposite.

Rigg is a natural 8. They are both 10's. Rigg is playing 10 because it suits him and us at this stage.
I've just watched from 70 minutes until Rigg got taken off and have found two contenders

1:16:39 / 72:57 on the clock

1:18:38 / 74:56 on the clock

Yeah I edited my post.

He scuffed a pass about 3 yards, thought about sliding in but reacted so quickly he just recovered it.

Centre half gave him a sniff, we winning 4-0 just thought better of it flying in to daft tackle that would have achieved zero. Then another by the East Stand.

It's as just as though he thought, we're winning easy, no daft tackles. At 17!!

He's some talent and the usual mob fail to see it.
In a recent match ( might of been Cardiff)he was tracking back and it looked like he was about to put in a tackle. He didn't and the tackle would have been late. It's these minor details in his descision making that put him ahead of his peers, and that's just one area of his game.
He maybe the best talent to come out of the AOL so far.

“The usual mob”

I’m not seeing a single person on this thread saying he isn’t fantastic.

Comparing him to Jude, Rooney and Messi and saying he’s going to captain England for years is absolutely f***ing batshit after a handful of excellent performances in the championship though. Haway man 😂

By default there can only be 6 mate. ;)
Basically all the usual top 6 plus Man Utd, minus Villa in 4th 😏

He's been captaining his England age group (actually a year above his age) so he's basically been identified as the best player with the best temperament.

He has all the pedigree in the world and is producing it at 17 in a very competitive league.

The sky is the limit for him. And yes I am talking Gazza levels.

You think posts saying he's second to Messi at 17, better than Rooney, should turn down Man U to stay at Sunderland, and he's worth £100m are warranted?
Just read in the Echo that the Serbian national manager is saying our new kid is like Messi. Can we find room for two Messis in the same team?

😂😂😂

Mate be real man, he’s class I’m not disputing that, but at the same age Rooney was motm in prem games, younger in fact. Jude won young player of the year at 16 and was playing for Dortmund at a slightly younger age than Rigg, Messi was playing for Barcelona.

He’s a tremendous talent, but you can not compare Chris Rigg to those 3.

Jude was playing for Dortmund at a younger age, so how are you working that one out?
He was but only by about a week.

He signed for Dortmund at 17 in the summer of 2020. He was a week younger than Rigg when he signed.

As I've already said earlier, Rooney was a man at 16, fully developed. Rigg is a boy playing in men's football. He has plenty of maturing to do body wise. Jude Bellingham was a beast at 16. Jobe is different, still growing at 18.

What?

So Rooney and Jude were ahead of Rigg at this point, but that’s because they’d filled out more, is that the point your trying to make here?
