Jack Clarke

You’re right.

What we should have done is turn down the offer and force the lad (who wants the move) to continue playing for us under duress as his value drops as the remainder of his contract expires.

It would also really encourage other young talent to join us once they saw how we treated our players.

KLD Out!
Are you f***ing mad?!

He has openly said he loves playing here, look at his performance last week, he isn’t the type to throw a hiss and down tools.

And it wouldn’t dissuade any player from coming here if we agree to sell them when a reasonable bid come in.

£15m is an utter f***ing pisstake.

Clarke has never seemed the type to do that like. Mind, because of that I'd be more accepting of letting him have a say in his own future

Self sustainable club in the championship and reliant on the fantastic support for income and esteem. Not a chance they want to mix it with the real big boys. If £15M for Clarke with a big wedge to Spurs is acceptable to KLD we are fucked. Doubt if any of that money will be invested in anything else other than more untried foreign players.

nothing wrong with letting him have a say. if he wants to play premier league football, which is totally understandable, then we rightfully shouldn't stand in his way. however, it should be on the condition that his market value is met by the bidding club. and his market value is waaaaay above £15m

Agree re. His attitude which is first class.

If, however, he wanted to stay here, he would have turned down the Ipswich offer.

Nah KLD will love the £15M (less Spurs cut of course) they will sell anyone around the £10M mark

So your initial point looks a bit silly then. He wouldn’t have sulked, he wouldn’t have been able to speak to Ipswich to find out what their offer was if we told them to take the paper it was written on, roll it up very tightly, and then shove it up their arse.

I just think the lad has done enough to have a say in his own future. I’m sure you’d be resentful if you were given a chance to quadruple your wages but weren’t able to.

Honestly my overriding emotion is I wish he'd done better. He deserves more than Ipswich. What's he going to get? 36 premier league games then be back where he is now? You look at the players who've gone to Palace from the Championship and advanced their careers, Clarke is on a similar level. I'm not saying Ipswich are nailed on for relegation, but at the same time the odds on us taking him back as we cross paths in 12 months isn't zero.

I’m not saying we hold him to Randall, I’m saying we get what he’s worth from Ipswich. If they are prepared to pay his worth (£30m) then he can speak to them and sign them.

We aren’t a charity, giving our players away for nowt because it’s the nice thing to do

Exactly, he's not the type to down tools so may have told the club to try and make a move happen as he wants to play in the prem but in the meantime he is happy to keep playing for us.

As well, I know it's easy to say in hindsight but at times against Shef Wed I thought he did look like he couldn't be bothered when he didn't have the ball, shoulders and head down, thought he looked off

Ipswich seem to have made a tonne of signings, not sure how many I'd rate for staying up in the PL like
