Jack Clarke

🤷‍♂️

It was plain as day the lad didn't want to leave for friggin' Stoke man.

And I've never seen a player look as gutted in his first interview for a club after signing than Sess did at West Brom. He looked like he was gonna burst into tears on SSN.
Conflicting information that because it was rumoured Kenwyne was seen backflipping down the A19 to Stoke.

What is extremely worrying is how brainwashed some of our fans seem to be when it comes to our owners and this so called model

Some of the defence I’ve heard of selling Clarke this morning is absolute insanity like. And that’s not just on here.
Model or no model. We finished 16th in the Chumpo and so if a PL club comes for our best players with 20m we have to sell, simple as that.

It’s not like the club has much of a say in the matter if it wants to be sustainably run.

Just come context to the fee received.

15m @ 75% is £11.25 million
5m in add ons are expected to be received and suggestion seems to be that as they are performance based spurs won’t get a cut of it.

Total received - £16.25 million
Now in order to get that from initial fee alone without add ons we would need to sell him for £21.67 million
Seems like club may have structured the deal to keep a larger % of the deal.

Also none of this takes into account the rumoured 15% sell on which is likely going to be worth a million or two at least.
Thanks for that.
Seems like Sunderland have had Ipswich's pants down, not the other way round.

Clubs will be banging our doors down for Rigg, Ballard , Jobe and more at these bargain basement prices ! Same old pushovers and for everyone wishing him well I really hope his time here will be the most successful of his career

Was resigned to losing him this window, so not surprised to see him go and hold no ill will at all whatsoever towards Clarke, but the fact that we seem to be selling for such a low fee is a massive concern. Suggests that we're either massively lacking in ambition, in a dire financial state, or both.

Given his importance to us we shouldn't have accepted anything under £25 million IMO.
This is what I’m saying mate. I was unsure whether he’d stay and would never blame the player for wanting to play in the prem but the money he’s going for after turning down similar bids makes us look a potential pushover and weak at sticking to our guns. Thought the hierarchy were great negotiators according to some on here? Looks like we’re all fart and no shit with the most important bit of business since Speakman arrived.
Looks like he said he wont be signing a new contract and they've cashed in for a good price for the club
Good price?

We’ve invested to tie the other 3 down more than likely with an eye on this happening.

We likely couldn’t have offered anywhere near to match Ipswich’s wages to tie Clarke down as well.

Imagine if we'd started this season like we finished the last... I think this would have been the end for a few. 😀

I reckon our good start and the feel good factor has persuaded them to do this- they've bought themselves some leeway so think they'll just about get away with it.

The truth is none of us know what the actual fee is. Sky Sports are saying 15m but others have said 20m + add ons.

Whatever it is we'll just have to get over it. It's not the first time it's happened and won't be the last. It seems a strange move for him but it seems pretty clear Ian Harte wasn't going to rest until he got him out of the door. It's a shame because the lad genuinely seemed to love it here.
