What those stats don’t show is how aweful we were for half the season and how 1 pronged our attack was. When you consider that along with how good Leeds were over the course of a season.

Ie use ya brain.

Then those stats start to show them in a more comparable light and help anyone with a basic knowledge of football understand 25 million is easy fair value in todays market

I'm not.

Many on here were suggesting if Clarke was whacked in Leeds' team, his numbers would be the same (if not better) than Summerville's, due to Clarke being in a 'relegation fodder' team last season.

So I looked at his stats for 22/23, when he was in a much more attacking team, under a forward thinking and attacking manager - Tony Mowbray - and in fact his numbers were worse.

He's obviously still young, so every season he's getting closer to his prime years, but neither seasons have been remotely close to Summerville's season, last season.

Comparing Clarke in 22/23 to Summerville in 23/24 wouldn't really be fair, although, Clarke is 1 year older than Summerville...so at both their stages of the career at the age of 22 (Clarke in 22/23 and Summerville in 23/24), Summerville's stats are way ahead of Clarke's when he was 22.

Clarke improved last season...albeit in a 'worse' team than that of 22/23....but some suggest if he was in Leeds' team last season he'd be close to Summerville. The stats and numbers suggest otherwise.

Funny how Clarke in 23/24 in a worse team than 22/23, actually performed better than he did in the better team in 22/23...
You ever been with a woman

It’s what you did. You said,

“Let's take the previous season's data...when Clarke was part of a top 6 team in this division...”

I’d suggest Clarke’s best year in the league - last year - is a better comparison. Otherwise you’re having to predict how players would play in certain systems. Best to just compare the most recent seasons.

For what it’s worth - and I’ve said this before - I think Clarke is better in stretched games, hence why maybe he was better (also a year older) last season.

I don’t think he’d excel in a team that dominated territory in the pitch

I agree Summerville is currently the better player and had the better season. I just think some of your logic is off
you can only use last season as a comparator foe somerville as its the only time he has played in the championship..
Agree. So just use Clarke’s last season, don’t second guess beyond that

yes indeed...the obviosu thing to do is use the only season clarke and sommerville played in the same division....summerville made the team of the season..

Yes that’s what I’d have done

Personally think it's hard to compare Clarke and someone like Summerville as Clarke played around generally crap players so got marked out the game.

There's no point marking Rusyn as he couldn't hit a barn door and would fall over anyway.

Jack Clarke isn't anywhere near the same level as Summerville.

Jack Clarke scored 15 goals last season with 4 assists in 40 games and of those 15 goals, 5 were penalties. He averaged 1 non pen goal every 4 games.
Summerville scored 21 goals last season with 10 assists (20 league goals and 9 league assists) in 49 games (46 league games - including the PO's) and of those 21 goals, 4 were penalties. He averaged 1 non pen goal every 2.875 league games.

Now even taking looking at the underlying data (using FBRef):

Jack Clarke in the last year is putting up numbers of 0.19 NPxG per 90 and 0.24 xAG per 90 - TOTAL 0.43 NPxG+xA per 90
Summerville in the last year is putting up numbers of 0.32 NPxG per 90 and 0.30 xAG per 90 - TOTAL 0.62 NPxG+xA per 90

Summerville is well above Clarke on underlying stats, both in goal threat and assist threat.

Summerville was one of the best players in the league last season.

No way in the world is Jack Clarke close to Summerville in performance or valuation.

In fact, he's much closer to someone like Isaiah Jones. Jones who isn't on pens for 'Boro, scored 8 league goals last season and had 4 assists, in 35 games. 1 non pen goal every 4.375 league games.

And also, Jones' underying data is much stronger too, with Jones putting up 0.35 NPxG per 90 and 0.17 xAG per 90 - TOTAL 0.52 NPxG+xA per 90.

Anything above £10m for Jack Clarke would be good business. £15m would be very very good business. £25m is a pipe dream.

Talking daft.

Depends what you want really. Jack Clarke is a much better dribbler, much better one vs one. And the stats back that up.

Summerville scored some screamers. Hard to sustain that. And he barely got a kick vs Trai Hume from memory.

Whats the biggest fee ever paid by a Championship club? If theres anything in this Leeds talk then I assume they're going to be smashing whatever the current highest fee is to get him.

Tresor, neves and assombalonga all around £15m according to transfer market.

So will dwarf them, can't see it happening at all tbh
