The Athletic: Brentford want Jobe

Some of*

Some of us know the potential Jobe has and would like to keep him. You know that though and are just being purposely nasty.

The only ones being nasty are the idiots slating a young lad who has enormous potential yet some just feel the need to slate him
Any other 18yo scoring 7 goals and being second top scorer would garner rave reviews on here. But for some reason people were thinking he’d be as good as Jude or are so obsessed with not wanting to be seen to be over praising him based on his name they spew absolute bile about him. Sad!

The same idiots who probably worship Lee Cattermole

I like Jobe and he has got loads of potential. He's just a kid and has scored a couple of worldies this season. However, 20+m is just so much money in the context of where we currently are. We'd be nuts not to accept.

Won’t lie regardless of the “model” I think losing players too the likes of palace and Brentford as they are so far ahead of us isn’t going to sit well with a lot of fans. It’s ok losing players to bigger clubs and clubs abroad but when it’s clubs that have historically won nowt done nowt and have hot probably their limit of growth is a bit of a kicker and I’m not one of those were giiiiit massssssssive is man it’s still a tough pill to swallow.

We sold Cummings to Palace, Pickering to Coventry, Marco to Palace, SKP to Southampton. The frustration is no new
Nowt like McCoist situation at all
So you didn’t regret selling him for peanuts as a boy to early? and your saying people were not on his back who did not think he was going to make it. And was not inconsistent etc … nowt like McCoist

Agree about Ali,remember Durban fuming saying we signed him for next 10 years not 10 mins .As far as Jobe is concerned why do the posters slating him think that loads of clubs want to sign him.

It’s the conspiracy theorists … they all think he’s playing every game as part of a deal that is detrimental to the club, truth is there wasn’t actually anyone better or fit enough to play the role he did.

However, You cant deny they are giving the kids who can hold their own at this level the games, they will do the same with Rigg over next two seasons if he signs up for it. Agree with it or not that is clearly intentional. Whether it is the best way to develop our better young players without experience around them is the bigger issue

Nobody thought the McCoist deal was good at the time….thats bollocks…we sold him at a loss

£20m seems like a good deal now, but remember we signed him as a 17 year old who'd made about 3 career starts. He scored 7 goals and some of his underlying stats were very good, fouls won, pass completion %, headers won, carries into the penalty area.

Smart clubs like Brentford and Palace could get themselves a bargain.

While I think he has great potential if we are offered anywhere 20m plus I’d say take it. He could develop to be a great player but at our place his career path is playing every single game up front whether that’s to the benefit of the club or not. So do I trust the club to use the money wisely though, no. That’s the dilemma.
