The Athletic: Brentford want Jobe

He shouldn’t even be in the team. He’ll never be too good for us

There is some talent there but he's unlikely to be able to show it unless playing for a decent team under a good coach. Somewhere mid-table in the PL where he could play every week would be a good next step for him

Looking at his and his brothers career so far along with comments from people in the media and rumours from the press, they won't go anywhere that doesn't give them assurances or even guarantees on game time. I don't there's many PL clubs that could give those at the moment as unless there's a massive improvement in him he wouldn't warrant it and that club would have to be sufficiently strong elsewhere or it wouldn't be a mid table club anymore.

This is pretty much spot on. Everyone saying he’s rubbish get rid of him, yeah he’s gonna flourish in that team last season isn’t he?

Honestly I just can’t fathom what people are watching when they come out with stuff like he’ll be too good for us soon. Not once have I walked away from a game thinking wow that lads going to be something special. Persisting with him in advanced roles is part of the reason we’ve seen a complete shift in playing style.

Nah. If prem teams think he is good enough to play in that league then he’s worth double that particularly his age and capacity to improve. I woujd suggest a) they aren’t interested in him at all of B) he goes for 20 million plus

This has got Ally McCoist written all over it. People were very 🤷‍♂️… when he was sold to Rangers for what was seen as a good fee but in reality was the biggest give away in our history.

As with Jobe to many saw a raw player who tied himself in knots, missed sitters and was inconsistent…the quick buck was taken and the fans accepted it. Total lack of vision and understanding of how young players develop

Lots of clubs across Europe clearly see the potential and talent

But according to the best fans in the world on here he isnt good enough apparently
Any other 18yo scoring 7 goals and being second top scorer would garner rave reviews on here. But for some reason people were thinking he’d be as good as Jude or are so obsessed with not wanting to be seen to be over praising him based on his name they spew absolute bile about him. Sad!

Put simply, I guess you're saying that ordinarily, for a 17/18 Yr old to have played 45 championship games in what is in reality their 1st full season, they must have been f***ing class in the majority (to have warranted it) but he hasn't been that.....which calls into question why he's played so much, uninterrupted?

100%
He’s not making those appearances on merit

Easily explained by a lack of Forward and Central Midfield options in the squad tbh.

Nowt like McCoist situation at all

I've no problem with Jobe himself, I think he'll turn out to be a good player, but I just don't see why he has to play every game. We have a number of players currently having to sit it out or being shoehorned into the side just to make sure Jobe starts, and that isn't right.

He's got some good attributes, but after just turning 18, he shouldn't be anywhere near being the first name on the team sheet, which seems to be the case. It's also got to cause some animosity amongst the players when some of his performance don't warrant him to be starting the next game while they continue to be snubbed.

I've said before, that I think the plan was to get him in the shop window and move him on quickly. One last deal for the Speakman/Bellingham partnership.

This.
He won’t develop at Sunderland. In fact you could argue he’s regressed with the positional changes and pressure out in him.
