The Athletic: Brentford want Jobe

It will be tough to lose both Bellingham and Clarke which could well happen this summer, between them the scored nearly 50% of our goals last season.

Comparing Jobe (23/24 Season - age 17/18) vs. Adam Wharton (22/23 Season - age 17/18), you can see why Palace like the look of Jobe. Per 90 minute stats for Jobe are fairly good considering we've ran him into the ground.

Wharton has been brilliant for them since moving. Means the going rate should be around the same figure they paid for Wharton, circa 18m.

I take no interest in the athletic when they link us to anybody, or when ours are linked. Giz a job , I can sit all day inventing bollox.

back in the day i always thought jack colback looked a better prospect than henderson at the same age.
just goes to show how much i know about footy :D
Maybe, maybe not. Colback may have had a good few games and Hendo may have had a temporary form downturn that stuck in your mind when you voiced that opinion. It happens. I remember after watching Vic Halom have a ropeyish five minute spell I foolishly opined that maybe Cruyff was fit to clean his boots……..of course I soon learnt my lesson there.

The thing is I can’t understand posters post colback v Henderson on here spouting off thinking they know better than the recruitment depts of clubs who have shown time after time that they get it right a helluva lot more times than they get it wrong. IE clubs that are punching way way way above their historical weight because of their current value for money scouting. Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth etc
I'd like to keep him but moving to Palace would be a class move for him. He might need to speed up his decision making to keep up with Eze and Olise mind but he'll improve massively playing in that environment
They won’t be there next season.

I think he’s going to be an excellent player. Not his brother’s level but that’s an unfair comparison.

Didn’t help him last season that he had so much responsibility thrust on him at this shit show of a club.

Whether we sell or not… one of those where if we struck the right deal I wouldn’t be too upset.

If the owners pocket big profits on the pair it proves the model is working exactly to plan though.

Whatever he’s worth now, he’ll be worth a lot more after a season not being managed by Dodds & Beale or playing behind Burstow. Keep for now
People have to realise this.
Our team aren't as bad as they showed in the second half of last season
The two games v sheff wed are a prime example of a team who is motivated and confident and one that is rudderless and under confident.
You can't judge any of our players to harshly from January onwards.

Can we just call last season what it was, a complete and utter shit show by those running the club. I almost feel for players like birstow let alone jobe. They were tossed in and expected to carry a massive club in there backs, managed by Beale then Dodds both not fit for purpose. Turmoil off the pitch I’m not one to make excuses for players but it can’t have helped with then 40k fans it’s a lot of pressure with at times no f***ing leadership it was those behind the scenes that fucked last season and will next if they don’t amend the model. Jobe will go to a club like palace and progress massively, we’ll be saying remember when he’s get stick from us haha

Aye. Problem is the regime needs a big sale or two for the model to claw back a bit of credibility with the fans, media, current players, prospective players and football industry in general. The worry is they’ll be tempted to accept bids that they’d snub if we’d finished in or just outside the playoffs last season.
Hopefully a few big turned down bids subtly leaked will do the job.

Think you're underselling it mate. Palace have signed about 4 championship players for around £18m+ each, I think they would be prepared to pay that.
Fair enough. Doubling put money in a season isn’t too bad at all, mind. I think the money can be better spent elsewhere in the squad. Not that it would be, I suppose.

Won’t lie regardless of the “model” I think losing players too the likes of palace and Brentford as they are so far ahead of us isn’t going to sit well with a lot of fans. It’s ok losing players to bigger clubs and clubs abroad but when it’s clubs that have historically won nowt done nowt and have hot probably their limit of growth is a bit of a kicker and I’m not one of those were giiiiit massssssssive is man it’s still a tough pill to swallow.
