The Athletic: Brentford want Jobe

Will be a shame if we let Jobe go so early in his contract . Hes still developing at a high level in English football and gave some good performances last season .At just 18 years A decent head coach will bring out more from Jobe . Cant believe Brentford would be a better career move at this stage in his career when he gets in front of 40000 crowds here and not ready for Premier / Say No

We signed 4 strikers last season with a combined goal tally of 3.
I know, it is a worry. By the way I am not slagging Jobe off as overall he had a good season for a 18 year old and I am not against keeping him around for a few years to see how he develops.

My main worry is the fact that no matter how tired he looked, and how out of form he was, he wasn't ever taken out of the firing line.....actually he was once rested against Plymouth and came on for the last half an hour and played class, should have been the case for another 15 games last season.

Yes, the stick he gets is pathetic.
Absolutey. He started the season as a 17-year old, and has more than held his own in the Championship playing almost every game. He is a quality player who will go on to have a quality career. I just don’t see why some of our fans are obsessed by slagging him off. Arguably one of the best 17 year olds we’ve ever had. To put Jobe into context, he’s still 2 years younger than Dan Neil was when he made his debut in League One.

Spot on!

Maybe could of been rested if we hadnt signed a load not fit to replace him. Also are people suggesting clubs both here and from Europe are prepared to pay huge fees because he is called Bellingham..........unbelievable.

Anything more than £10m would be a fantastic return for only 12 months of football. We would surely be at least doubling our money.

That said, how much could he be worth in another twelve months? I think he has all the right attributes to be a serious footballer, and they cost a lot more than £10m these days.

And would he be critical for a potential promotion push next season? He was our second-top scorer last season, not that it was a particularly difficult milestone to hit.

I'd probably take the £10m.

10m, we'd likely pay Birmingham 2.5m? And we paid 2.5m.
So 5m profit for a year?

Something around that, I reckon. It's really not bad business but it would all hinge on how we spent the money and that's an entirely different conversation.
5m isn't that much In the grand scheme of things tbh when you take into account what he could be, and what we could get IF he progresses.
Can't help feeling that if we're happy with a 5m profit, it is a bit small time thinking.

Good player, been asked to play too many games in a variety of positions by a club who are a shambles off the pitch

At the start of the season he couldn’t even legally buy a pint in a pub.

He’s been pretty inconsistent but that’s to be expected of an 18 year old in his first proper season.

He also not benefited from playing in a side that has a holding midfielder or where a centre forward is present and have an inform combo of Clarke and Roberts.

I’d like to see us hang on to him as I think should we bring in the players we can clearly all see we need and a decent head coach, then he will continue to improve.

Guess it depends on whether his head has been turned and what the club would see as an offer too good to be true.

A cynic would say it'd whether his parents heads have been turned or not ;)
