The Athletic: Brentford want Jobe

I assume you mean that our lot won’t be able to replace Ballard, Clarke, Hume or Jobe - when it was our lot who brought them in the first place?
as I said and you know too well we brought in so many players who can barely get a game. Would you trust them to spend the £10 mil we get for Jobe ? 1 I doubt they will reinvest in players and 2 they will bring in more kids who aren’t ready. Happy to be proved wrong

Rigg will be half the player Jobe will be.
Disagree. If Rigg had played 2/3 of the games Bellingham had in either the No10 or as an 8 we’d struggle to keep him here next season and there’s already serious interest from clubs at the top end of the pyramid without him featuring a huge deal. 1 of 3 players who’s progression is stalling due to the project.

Would ask for at least 15. If he has a great season next year could easily ask for 20 million. Think his best position could be the 10 role if we get some target man up top?
It's so hard to judge a lot of these players when they have been limited to what they can actually show and achieve without us having a recognised striker for them to play off etc...its a crying shame and terrible management from the recruitment side.

I have never walked away from the ground after watching him thinking wow that lads amazing. He has had canny games but he hasn’t really ever stood out. Work with a Leeds and Hull fan and both didn’t really see what the fuss was about. His level of performance certainly didn’t warrant the minutes he was given. If we are pinning our hopes on him next season as a no.10 or an advanced mid then we should all be very worried.
The team was build around Jobe too. Even the coaches. He’s nowhere near any of the top players in the championship

Mostly players don’t improve from the ages of 17/18 in their first full season in professional football? Aye OK mate 😂

Thats not what I actually said though. I said it's not a given that they will improve.

Generally most players given the opportunity at that age warrant it. I think its questionable whether Jobe has warranted as many opportunities as hes had and therein lies the main problem.

Statistically more young players given games will gradually fall away and forge careers further down the pyramid than those who improve and progress. So in essence yes - most won't improve beyond their initial promise and we've probably had a few of those over the last few years as well.

Put simply, I guess you're saying that ordinarily, for a 17/18 Yr old to have played 45 championship games in what is in reality their 1st full season, they must have been f***ing class in the majority (to have warranted it) but he hasn't been that.....which calls into question why he's played so much, uninterrupted?

If those clubs really wanted him they’d have him by now

If we can move him on for north of £10 million this summer then the club should do it, there is a half decent player there somewhere probably in the 10 role. Think the longer he stays at the club though the slower the development of Rigg who imo is already a much better option in all midfield positions than Jobe.

Disagree. Rigg is 17 (when 24/25 season starts). He's an exceptional talent. If he signs a pro contract at the back end of this month then brilliant. Rigg has all the attributes to be a CM, number 10 or even a wide midfielder should needs suit. There's no reason, financially (at £10M) in the case of Jobe or any other reason to sell him. There's no reason (footballing wise) to say Rigg and Jobe can't play in the same team.

What's Riggs' best position that he will go on to excell at? Nobody knows. What's Jobes' best position that he will go on to excell at? Still nobody knows.
