Kompany to Bayern

So he was too good for the players? Absolute crock of shit. Any manager sticking to a system that doesn't work and gets relegated isn't a good manager.

Like a pound shop Biesla.
No. I think the best managers can adapt to their players or can make players adapt to their system for the first time in their careers. I don’t massively find Kompany interesting, I think he doesn’t have many original ideas. I also think he comes across like a bellend

At the same time, I think his style is designed to work for teams with players at the top end of their league, whether Burnley or Bayern (or Pompey, etc).

So I think you can’t scan across his last season with Burnley to Bayern, you have to look at what he expect of the players. Bayern’s players will be well used to his system and will likely take to it

The inverse might be a Dyche - I think he’s fantastic but I doubt if you gave him Arsenal, he’d get anywhere near where Arteta does. Different managers have different skills

Every manager in the world would love to conform to that. It's the Big Sam to Barcelona model.

Sam Allardyce hasn’t spent a career working on a particular style that will work with players in those teams. There’s a reason he didn’t get offered that type of job.

I don’t know whether Kompany will do well at Bayern, nobody does. But people saying “Burnley relegated = shit at Bayern or doesn’t deserve Bayern” are looking at it incorrectly.

It’s about what he was trying to do with that team, and if the new club think that system will click with their players then there’s reason to think it’s a good appointment
