CC : Warwickshire v Durham

You mean in the batting line up for for actually playing. If the first then I think so, but if the last then not for me. Raine, top wicket taker last season, dependable and durable.
In the batting line up. I regard Carse as a batting all-rounder nowadays, with apologies to Baz McCullum. Raine exactly as you describe him.

Mark Robinson names 13-player squad to face Durham.

Squad

Ed Barnard
Chris Benjamin
Jacob Bethell
Danny Briggs
Michael Burgess (wk)
Alex Davies (C)
Olly Hannon-Dalby
Craig Miles
Dan Mousley
Will Rhodes
Chris Rushworth
Che Simmons
Rob Yates
Looks like Warwickshire have recalled Craig Miles early from his month's loan to Glamorgan. Miles of course was signed on a 2 match loan for us in June of last year and took 5 wickets in the drawn game at the Riverside against Glamorgan but picked up an injury and didn't play in the next game at Leics.

The game he appeared in was played under a blazing sun with not a cloud in the sky for all four days....ah those were the days!

I think you’re overthinking it.

Ben Stokes is the biggest name in county cricket, one of the biggest hitters, responsible largely for the current aggressive play by the England side and has made himself available for county duty. It’s the most obvious example to use whilst making the point he’s making.

He’s an excellent cricket journalist and the entire game would be a much better place if MORE were like him.

He also spoke VERY well in the defence of Durham following FTECB’s rape and pillaging of us back in 2016.

He’s not anymore, every time England lose he uses to tell me how it’s because county cricket is fucked
What is it that you dislike about his cricket opinion?

Hes Extremely extremely negative

That must’ve past me by, any links?

Listen to him on cricket show after play and the odd paywall stuff

It’s just my opinion like! I’m not a fan, I can see why he never made it to the nationals.

Sure plenty of use like him, I agree he was good in Durham back in the day.

I’d argue that’s because he doesn’t toe the party line. Which is a good trait for a journalist.

Not for me, I think that cricket journalism in this country is outstanding, the lads work tele for the times, telegraph and guardian are brilliant

Dobell has a chip on his shoulder and is too negative about things, very much I told you so merchant. He agreed with his mate Giles when he was sacked from England that we’d have no success unless we ripped up the county schedule etc, then has nothing to offer when stokes n McCollum proved him wrong. He was ready to pounce every time we lost v India or Oz.

You need journalists like this maybe for sure but I just don’t enjoy reading his stuff personally.

Again it’s just opinions

Yeh,opinions. Personally I find Liew(Guardian) and Berry(Telegraph) lazy journalists, often factually incorrect showing little research. Atherton is a quality writer but won't rock the boat and criticise the establishment. Dobell is prepared to do this which is why I respect him.

Liew is poor yeah. He’s a general sports journal, Ali Martin at guardian is good

I donr agree on athers actually, I think he’s fair and criticises both sides, and does not write controversy just to make publicity. I don’t want to go into it again but he was the only national journalist who have balance in the Yorkshire, Rafiq story, and called out the MPs and the ECB for some of the over the top stuff they were doing around it. Which wasn’t an easy thing to do considering the mood and pile on at the time.

Again it’s just about who you enjoy reading isn’t it, no right or wrong. Am Not gonna tell anyone how to think haha.

Yes and Dobell promoted Rafiq's claims and put over a very one sided view on the issue throughout.

Lees
Borthwick
Ackerman
Bedingham
Robinson
Clark
Carse
Raine
Potts
Parkinson
Borland

Looks a very decent Xl for championship cricket to me.
Although it would be nice to see a couple of youngsters break through this season to become genuine first team players as its actually quite an old team. Potts the last academy player to come through.
