Disney world Florida

Went in 1994 .

On a fly drive as it was own back then.

Got a flight for £199 each return.

Walked into the Tourist information on ID and asked about hotel availability, ended up getting a room for $29.99 per night in a brand new hotel near the convention centre.

Worked out including taxes at £20.49 per night

Car hire was £300 back then.

Got tickets for Holland. V Ireland at the World Cup for $30 each
You jammy bastard

Obviously not during the school holidays. We just can't take ours out these days
Just pay the fine. It'll still save you a fortune.

You can still get daft cheap flights now on TUI etc if you leave it late, especially when schools are in. 94 England didn't qualify so there wouldn't have been much extra demand that June.

Hotels are still dirty cheap in Florida. It's the theme parks that rip the piss at the moment.

We’re booked for July 6th 2 weeks staying in a 4 bed townhouse. Got 2 nights booked in a hotel at Universal too in the middle of the trip. Got theme park tickets (Disney Universal combo and Discovery Cove) and gonna do a day at Clearwater. Think I’m up to just short of 10k for the 4 of us and just the hire car to pay for (which I’ll be using partly Avios for).
It’ll be our first time since 2016. We were due to go in 2020 but that got canned. Kids will be 16 and 17 then so it’s gonna be one of their last holidays with us so looking forward to it.

I think you will get a shock at the prices now vs 2016. Even stuff that was cheap isn’t anymore and the stuff that was expensive is now insulting. Be prepare to be offered the chance to pay a 22% tip at the bar / buffet as well.

We've started looking for next year. The same villa we stayed at in 2019 was £850 then, now is £1600 for roughly the same time of year, that's some increase. We'd be paying £1500 in park tickets alone.

Are American school holidays same as ours we are going to have a few days in Miami then Orlando next year but last time we went ques for rides were mad

Just been in December, prices were crazy in and out of the parks. It was also absolutely rammed for the 2 weeks, no such thing as quiet periods in Disney or universal anymore :(

December is nice for your weather at least.
Yeah it was, not too hot I think it was 35 degrees when we first got there and then it didn’t go over 23 for the rest of the holiday.

Pissed it down the last 3 days though, with torrential rain on the day we flew home.

Did 4 Disney parks in a day in the Summer. Great fun but knackering! It covers the same area as Edinburgh! Mental. Star Wars part was by far the best.

Trick for Magic Kingdom is to go on a day when it’s closing early for a paid event. The Americans won’t go if they can’t see fireworks at the end of the night.
In September we were walking onto Space Mountain and Jungle Cruise, both of which normally have queues of at least 60 minutes.

I must admit we never bother with the planning and stress of this. We've been going once/twice a year in recent times and just book a deal with BA, get a car with them as it's usually cheaper than direct with other places. Then every other time we skip Disney World and just do a load of driving to different places.

It's gone up cos the $ is stronger, and prices have naturally increased anyway, but still can't beat it. Just a happy place to be if you don't get chewed cos of the queues for rides etc.

The parking is a piss take, but as you only pay once no matter which park you goto, we just hop around them. Do a bit in each, then go somewhere else for the evening if needed, then maybe pop back for fireworks.

Love the place and will keep going back.
