Ross Stewart

He'd rather play for a lesser club for more money than the club that stood by him through his injury.
Not sure why you think this is some how noble.

Disappointing, and tainted an already injury ravished stay on Wearside.
So, you’d rather he was still with us ?

On £25k a week for the next 3 years, injury prone and quite possibly never going to be the player he was, while we miss out on a £10M transfer fee ?

Very noble of you if you’d prefer that and to keep an “ injury ravaged “ player on the books. I assume you meant ravaged, not ravished which has a completely different meaning!

Likely to be out for the rest of the season according to Southamptons official twitter (X)

We did well getting 10m for him in hindsight
Would never have wished him ill,but the meltdown on here if he was firing them to promotion would have been huge🤣. So far great deal Sunderland

Gutted for him give me one of the greatest moments of supporting Sunderland. I did post at the time of his sale that he only managed 25 games in one season so always been doubts about his injury record

That's a different question and point.

You wanted him to leave in January then? Just as he was near returning from injury?

Most fans wanted him to stay, and it was disappointing that he chose a move for the money. As with Darren Bent, it taints his time here.

This £10m had already been spent on the sunmers window transfer fees and wages. He was sold to recoup that spending that had already happened.

I think I meandered between give him the money he wants and sell him.

Seems like Speakman has played a financial blinder here.

Good luck to Ross and I hope he finds a way back eventually. He did well for us.

I’m talking about facts, not woulda, shoulda, coulda and ifs and onlies.

A pity the board didnt think highly enough of RS to offer him an agreeable salary, yet a ‘ lesser club ‘ did, that’s why RS left.

I stand by what I said… you’d be whining on if he’d stayed and we were paying £25k a week for a crock.

I certainly agree with you about Bent the snake, but RS is a different kettle of fish. A player who was on small money and had the chance to secure his, and his family’s, future.

90% on here bear no malice to RS whereas 90% would slap DB around the head given the chance.
