The Hundred 2023

Its here to stay for the minute like...I have never watched it but just way it is.

North East side is good....my main annoyance th whole time has been our exclusion, its insane when you consider the cricketers we produce

you had a situation where no real cricket in the summer holidays for locals to watch...including kids...how is that helpful to getting the next Stokes or Wood

However, if there is any attempt to link or change Durham or the ground to a Newcastle or Tyneside type team..that is probably me done with any domestic cricket like.

I do worry it could happen like, especially if the decisions are made from the ECB in London, who have no real idea bout the area lets be honest.

Anything has got to be better than the BBC commentary of The Hundred. I'm not sure it could be dumbed down any further.

everytime there was a six there was H-O-O-J HOOJ!!! Embarrassing.
That's the nature of franchise cricket.

It's the same batters hitting the same bowlers over tiny boundaries in various stadiums across the globe. Under no circumstances can any commentator describe it as anything other than absolutely magnificent and the greatest cricket ever witnessed, or the casual fan may catch on that it's all a load of old shit.

Anyone appeased by a franchised in Durham has spectacularly missed the point.

Given that Yorks and Lancs have team it would essentially be ours mind (geographically).

It’s the club on its own initiative that tries to make that link by playing home games in Northumberland and by its “for the North” marketing. You can argue this is a good or a bad thing. But you can’t blame the ECB for it.

Which ultimately is the right thing to do, to attract fans from the region to support the club and help it flourish.

You make it sound like non-skillful tedious boring cricket.

Yet at the same time franchise leagues are in your words played in ‘stadiums across the globe’

That kind of suggests people and fans find them entertaining , skillful and enjoyable hence they would not be happening and tv companies and investors not involved.

Maybe you don’t enjoy it but obviously plenty do as illustrated above

Won't be long until we reach cricket perfection: Dwayne Bravo hitting Dwayne Bravo for six in a one over game at the 200,000 capacity Riyadh Oval (Attendance 413).

Not sure that even close to responding to my obvious observation that T20 leagues are obviously popular globally, and in one case with the IPL the biggest domestic competition cricket has ever seen in terms of revenue, tv rights, exposure, top players together, etc by a country mile.

But you keep cracking on taking the piss while T20 leagues keep putting out, fast paced, top quality, highly skilled cricket where skills are and have developed extremely rapidly over the last several years.

And where them skills have been transferred into test cricket making test cricket as entertaining sport as it has ever been.

Fast paced? T20 is too long for TV audiences, remember? Or are we just going forget that claim ever happened? :D

I can't wait for March, I long for Danny Morrison to tell me that my eyes are wrong and how that top edge was in fact a spectacular shot, maybe one of the best shots ever played.

Do you know if they sell hybrid shirts? I think I want a half Mumbai Indians, half Rajasthan Royals one.

Eh?

We play 1 game a year on tyneside

1

If we get rebranded newcastle then yes its very much the ecb

I love cricket but never watched a ball of the hundred but the IPL does not appeal me either. Franchise teams with multiple players switching year on year just all meh!

Just an excuse for some very average players to line their pockets.

T20 not too long for me, really enjoyed it always have, mistake it my book reducing 20 overs any further,

Would have much preferred us to go down an English premier league route and 20 overs than The Hundred, sorry 16.4 my apologies!!

Looking forward to IPL, when I can see a format that I thoroughly enjoy played by top cricketers in mainly full stadiums where I see fans having a fantastic time enjoying themselves watching the sport they clearly love and their team

I like Danny Morrison, always liked your Sid Waddell’s, Murray Walker ,David Lloyd , Wayne Mardle type of enthusiastic characters, find them infectious, love to see fans and commentators really enjoying themselves and loving the sport they involved with.

Much better than listening or reading people constantly twisting and moaning!!!
