Irony at its finestf***ing hell you literally defend out man
Yes I agree on that but surely the ref should have used common sense.Mate, I agree the ref was shite.
But I asked the question "If Neil had kept his gob shut, would he have been booked?"
The answer to that has to be no.
Whatever other things the ref did or didn't give, if DN says nowt, he doesn't get booked.
Shirley you can accept that.
Yes I agree on that but surely the ref should have used common sense.
But do you admit that in a high stakes game in front of 40,000+ people that Neil was full of adrenaline and in those circumstances the ref should say to himself, had on here I can't over react
If DN kept his gob shut, it should have been 11 v 10 in our favour.Agree, it's f***ing annoying. Inconsistency is f***ing annoying.
But that doesn't alter the fact that if DN had kept his gob shut, it would have been 11 v 11 at the start of the second half marra.
You say that but your default position is always to defend refs.f***ing hell you literally defend out manHe can't just call the ref what he likes as long as he's not be over aggressive whilst doing it. The video suggests the ref was waving him away and Neil has overstepped the mark hence the card
So people are complaining that the ref didn't get some decisions right, which I agree with, but on an occasion that he applied the rule properly, he is still wrong?Yes I agree on that but surely the ref should have used common sense.

I will repeat if you have done the same thing in your job for years with no consequences and seen others do it why on one particular occasion would you expect that to change. So people are complaining that the ref didn't get some decisions right, which I agree with, but on an occasion that he applied the rule properly, he is still wrong?
The amount of people watching, and DNs adrenaline has got nothing to do with it mate.
40, 000+ were watching another 21 adrenaline filled players as well, but DN was the one who gave the ref the excuse to show a yellow.
The ref was crap, and you are understandably put out by his decision, so am I, but the fact remains DN gobbed off and got booked. He has to accept some of the responsibility for that.
Aye consistent, will always say the situation yesterday a player should get yellow card for dissent for doing what he did whatever the team.
Where others imo and you included would say it was a yellow card if a Newcastle or Middlesbrough player done exactly the same.
And criticism would go to that player.
It’s amazing how many people on here change their opinions of incidents depending whether or not they favour Sunderland
You wouldn't expect it to, and you would feel hard done by being picked out for it, but if you were breaking the rules, you haven't got a leg to stand on marra. Just because everyone does it, doesn't make it right.I will repeat if you have done the same thing in your job for years with no consequences and seen others do it why on one particular occasion would you expect that to change.

Or are we just saying that players can say what they like to the ref, and he can do fuck all about it?
I agree with that mate. I have said several times. The ref was shite, and inconsistent, and should be hauled over the coals for it.If you believe DN was the only one to challenge a decision then so be it - that all stands true.
DN wouldn’t have been the only one to swear and/or challenge a decision pretty obviously. When does the ref explain why he booked Neil but no-one else for the Same offence…. Nope he never will have to
Ballard was obviously incensed - I think the Sunderland bench should have made a hell of a lot more. Disgraceful decision - a elbow is a straight red not a yellow. Is there a clip of the Ballard elbow on here anywhere? Looked a stone wall red from my seat.
I f he applied the same rules to the 21 other players mate the game would have been abandoned well before we got to half time.I agree with that mate. I have said several times. The ref was shite, and inconsistent, and should be hauled over the coals for it.
But he applied the rules rightly with DN for the dissent. It feels unfair because it is unfair, but DN showed dissent, and got booked.
So he applied the rules incorrectly for everyone else. Surely that’s much worse than making one mistake in sending Neil off! he must have made scores!I agree with that mate. I have said several times. The ref was shite, and inconsistent, and should be hauled over the coals for it.

I think he was too busy looking at his watch for the time and blowing for half time it seemsIf DN kept his gob shut, it should have been 11 v 10 in our favour.
Why he didn’t send off their player for assaulting Ballard at the end of the half, I’ve no idea.
Yeah I have said mate I thought in the context of everything it was a harsh yellow cardBut it would end up 5 v 5 if swearing was a yellow. I suppose that’s what many are arguing about. He booked Neil but no one else.
We either assume no-one else swore (if you’ve been anywhere near a football pitch you’ll know that’s cobblers), or he chose not to book anyone else….
If that is the case it is not dissent is it. The use of abusive language to an official is a straight red card. I am sure that if that t**t had half a chance to brandish a straight red it would have made his day.The ref is claiming Neil called him a “fuckhead”, according to the Boro club doctor.
The ref was never going to send off one of their players like, considering he didn't want to book the majority of themIf DN kept his gob shut, it should have been 11 v 10 in our favour.

empathy from an Aussie, we will be talking about Italian war heroes nextref empathetically
No we don't agree. So he applied the rules incorrectly for everyone else. Surely that’s much worse than making one mistake in sending Neil off! he must have made scores!
I think we agree then.
No getting away from the fact that we didn’t stand a chance with him applying the rules once but only once.
