The mags are claiming Durham CC now

And to repeat that’s fine . But again for reference there are lots of people ( and I can vaguely reference as well ) who won’t sing about Newcastle. It’s not small minded or immature it’s about sport and tribalism . I think it may be similar to singing about the ECB and that
Why is is suddenly upsetting people now though who don't go to cricket? Durham have sang this/associated this for yonks. Local Hero blasting out at South Shields today on national tv... Any outrage about that?

It’s not sudden. Cricket lovers on this forum have mentioned it for donkeys. This is far from the first time it’s been discussed.

Also, there was a full thread about Eddie Howe starting the GNR on PF. I really like the city of Newcastle (I’ve lived and worked there) but can’t bide the Newcastlefication (not specifically football tribalism) of all things north east. Blaydon Races, a song predominantly about and associated with Newcastle, being sang by Durham CC who also now play plenty games in Newcastle is another example of it.

Not to this extreme, you get the odd knacker on social media sitting in his bedroom paying mam and dad £30 board a week but that's about it. Never known anything like this sudden mass fake outrage by non attenders. Sunderland fans sang their own version of Blaydon Races for years which people are conveniently forgetting and seem to want to ignore the fact using their logic they nicked a song off the Mags and changed the words a bit. Flipping it on its head, Sunderland isn't in County Durham, so why are Sunderland people bothered about Durham?

You do know changing the words gives it a whole new context , don't you?

Yes, sang it many times at away games in the 2000s. Merely stating it was nicked off The Blaydon Races which is was and you and others claim to be a Mag song
It is. But when you change the words, it becomes a Sunderland song. Do you change the words at Durham? Yous should to stop it being a Newcastle song.Would be easy done. 'Gannin alang the Chester Road, to see the Durham aces'. Sounds class

Why would Durham change the words? It's a song about an event in the historical county of Durham.

I’m sure you’ve done your surveys on that like so will take your word for it.

Sunderland supporters entirely changed the lyrics of the song. As have Man United in their adaptation. And in response to your final point, Sunderland is historically County Durham. Newcastle is not.

There’s not much outrage from what I’ve read. Just people saying it’s a Newcastle song. The outrage is being projected

Blaydon is historically in County Durham therefore perfectly fine for Durham to sing about a song about something which happen d in Durham. Common theme is Durham. Sunderland nicked a song they (Some Sunderland fans) associate with Newcastle and changed the words, perfectly fine just as it's perfectly fine for Durham to sing what they want in this case about an event in Durham
Scotswood Road isn't in Durham, is it?
Blaydon is though using your logic Sunderland isn't in Durham...

How? Blaydon was in Durham, so was sunderland. Scotswood Road isnt

The clip of this^^^^^^^. I think there is only one set of people getting angry on here pal. Just having a discussion about a Newcastle folk song getting sung by Durham cricketers. No need for the abuse. I bet you are the type at football matches that boos and chucks abuse at everyone, like you are doing to fellow posters on here.

Nice try

not having someone slag off Durham cricket and traditions of durham cricket when you dont even watch or care about them.

Its been sang at Durham for longer than you have been alive. You are way out of your depth
