4th test Manchester

Sadly we have been punished for our performance in the first two tests. Lets hope we get some cricket at the Oval and they only retain the Ashes.

They’re world champions. They’ve got an excellent pace attack. In Khawaja, Smith, Labuschagne and Head they’ve got four world class batsman. They’re a very good side and won the first two Tests to make this outcome overwhelmingly likely by playing better cricket than we did. The weather has got them out of jail in this test but we weren’t / aren’t guaranteed to win at the Oval.

They’ve deservedly retained the Ashes based on the balance of play so far and now we have to stop them winning them outright for the first time in over two decades

My issue is it stopped at half 11 and they didn't begin work on the pitch until 11.55am when they took the covers off. Just felt as though it was a lack of desire. It is what it is but lost overs due to dithering has been a bigger issue, 30 overs in 3 days lost due to pissing around which we were even doing yesterday.... drinks break within 45 mins yesterday, ridiculous
 
Was 2015 the last time we held the ashes? Looking like atleast 10 years before we have the chance to regain them, and our record in Australia is generally piss

I completely agree with the lost overs due to pissing about in the 1st few days, and something needs to be done. As you say, 30 overs lost when the weather was absolutely fine.

Bigger frustration than the weather in the last 2 days for me. You can’t control the weather, you can control how you get through your overs.

Not so sure, the Aussies don't have much coming through and Starc/Cummins can't play forever. Warner is retiring and Khawaja is 36.

30 overs is pretty much 2 hours/full session.

They always unearth players. Sometimes they just come from nowhere. Smith came into the side as a future Warne-esqu leggy without any real fanfare as a batsman beyond being useful down the order. Turns out he’s amongst the conversation for the best ever.

We’ve a few heading into the twilight too so winning the next one down under may be the last chance for a few of ours.

Equally our bowling attacks main bowlers are 41 and 38
Stokes is crippled
Our fast bowlers all seem to break down (especially before an away ashes unfortunately)
It will be more even but we've only won an ashes once in aus in the last 25 years or so isn't it?
 
Absolute complacency in selection, fielding and match tactics in the first two tests cost us the Ashes. 393/8 declared summed it up, zany bollix.
