Leicester forum - Championship thread

Looks like they are going to try and spend their way out. Could end in tears with a manager who is unproven.
You’re right it could but it’s not really a case of trying to spend our way out .
You can’t get rid of Tielemans and Maddison and not buy somebody, whether Winks is going to work ia another thing.
We’ve taken over 200k a week off the wage bill with those two and trousered £30 million after paying for Winks .

Financially makes sense, whether Winks adapts to championship football as a regular remains to be seen, I think Coady will be a decent signing should LCFC get that done.

What’s the wage that Winks would demand though? I get that significant wages have been moved on but attracting Winks to Championship would need some serious wages as well, hence it won’t be 200k nett wage reduction.

Fair comment but the fact he’s dropped down means he won’t be getting anyway near what those two were on , my guess would be 40-50 k tops and if it is that I think the whole package is probably more than he’s worth 🤷🏽‍♂️

Googling suggests that his Spurs contract is around 50k per week.

If we get Coady we will get rid of Sideshow Bob and or Evans who are both on loads aswell.
We’ve been paying stupid wages , 7th highest wage bill in the Premier League apparently

Which would probably make my guess about right?
The most important thing to my mind is that our new manager is totally changing things and it’s needed to be done since the FA Cup win.
The whole club has become complacent and lazy.

I guess my point is the wages you will page for the likes of Winks and Coady will be big. If it fails, you'll be left shitting your pants next season.

It’s where we find ourselves mate.
I don’t think we can try and do it by buying unproven or steady eddies on 8 -15 k a week .
I’m not knocking clubs who are doing that either by the way .
For better or worse we’ve gone down another route and can’t just go into reverse in one fell swoop

Unless their new manager is a complete incompetent then, with the players they're being linked with, they are looking clear favourites; as the bookmakers' odds are reflecting. Cairney, Coady and Winks would be superb signings. They could well be this season's Burnley but let's hope they're more like Norwich City or Watford.

Well we’re definitely bigger than West Brom so guess you could include us, still what Leicester have achieved in the past 7 years is something boro or Sunderland will never see
Boro bigger than West Brom? In what sense because , they have won 7 major trophies to your 1. They have also had a larger record attendance than yourselves. Highest average attendance and all time historical average attendance you’re both level on those scores. They have more years in top flight. Albion above Boro for me. They are sandwiched in between Villa and Wolves(both piss over Boro) too, which adds to their case even more.

Still mind boggling how a side with crap like Drinkwater, Morgan, Huth, Albrighton, Simpson, Fuchs won a title
exactly
Yep we utterly fluked our way through a 38 game season, losing just 3 times in the process.

Really can't understand the animosity from some people.
No animosity at all. 6th lowest points total in premier history, you stumbled upon Kante and several faltering league contenders. Glad you won it btw.

So because they won a bit before ww2 there a massive club we have in my life time competing at the same level always comfortably got bigger crowds than them. If you look post war we’ve spent more time in top division and achieved more in that time frame. As for wolves, In terms of size of fanbase no bigger than us.

My two penarth worth. We are very similar sized clubs. Yes WBA have won a few things when Dino's roamed the earth, nice history but hardly relevant to today. Our all time averages are within a couple of hundred of each other WBA 19,516 Boro 19,864. What is more relevant is the last time Albion averaged over 30k was in 1959. Since then we have got more than that on 7 or 8 occasions and had 29 + on a couple of more, 27+ plus being the best WBA could muster. Sunderland fans really have a blank spot when it comes to Boro. I will acknowledge any day of the week that Sunderland have massive support, but you lot all think we are on par with Darlo, for crying out loud.

Birmingham and Boro are the biggest clubs to never win the fa cup going off all time support.
