CC : Durham v Glamorgan

A great day’s cricket, sat through every ball, used about a gallon and a half of factor 50.

I’ve ordered a drum of Aftersun :o
It’s a mediocre attack but Robinson and Beds showed their class

I’m amazed at how ineffective Harris has been to this point, he’s hurt us a few times in the past. You’re right though, van der Gugten bowled well all day I thought and always looked a threat, but it was simply a case of respecting him and making hay against the others.
Wow!! He’s our most destructive aggressive batsman

He probably is in red ball, but not T20.

Find that staggering
Him and Clark top of order in that format could be lethal

For me the greater need for the team was a strike bowler, which is why Parnell was brought in (because we were missing Potts, Carse, Coughlin and Wood). Parnell hasn’t been great, but I can’t criticise the thought process from the club on this. We DO need to strengthen the batting, but the weakest aspect to the T20 side as it stands is pace bowling.

Yeah it's a mediocre Glamorgan attack with only Van der Gughten looking dangerous but that's their problem not ours. Let's hope for more of the same tomorrow.

Great weather. Great company and Great cricket - what more could anyone ask for?:D

We're missing most of our attack anarl.

If we can get a lead of anything over 100 and have them batting half way through tomorrow then it's a good effort that I'd be happy with. I suspect we will be looking at going at 4 an hour for morning session which would give us a 150 lead. One step at a time I guess.

Mind you Robinson was 1* off 20 balls so you never know   - Makes his innings even more impressive when he got going.

When I made the comparison to the Jones innings (in my head) I think he had about 13 from 31 which I remember thinking was snail like for him - for him to get his ton at better than a run a ball was a marvellous upturn.

absolutely
I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon watching Robbo, Bedders and Clarky making hay. Out of the sun under the top tier with a bit of a cooling breeze. Lovely!

I was a bit surprised how ineffective Harris looked. I thought Carlson's captaincy was a bit iffy. VdG had Robbo on toast for half an hour; the two nicks and the 2 big appeals for lbw. I thought at the time that the next time the ball hits Robbo on the pad the umpire will raise the finger under the accumulation principle. The moment Robinson middled one and spanked him to the boundary, Carlson pulled him off. He could have had a couple more and that might have been enough to break the big partnership early doors. Then with one over before tea, and Robbo needing 5 for his ton, he pulled vdG off again and bowled himself to feed him the sweep shot that got him to his hundred. I just thought it was all a bit strange.

Feels like a long time since I've seen 170 runs scored in a session

Yet again this rejuvenated Durham side have stepped up to the mark when required in the Championship. Yesterday evening I foolishly doubted them with the visitors strolling along at 340- 4 but that late flurry of wickets hauled us back into contention. Then at lunch with four wickets down we were in trouble again but unlike last season there was no capitulation just two superb centuries from Bedingham and Robinson with hopefully a third to follow from Clark tomorrow.

Hopefully Bedders has a blaze of glory around lunchtime and Clarky adds to his 68 guns.Don't be alarmed if we lose an early wicket 👍😉

Interesting times for Durham, do we bat them out of the game and possibly risk a draw or do we declare and go for the win? Either way still be top of the league after this round of matches! Not too shabby considering the players that are missing.

Well I think we should try & bat ideally for a session. Going at 4 an over would take our lead to around 140. Then bat like dickheads for 10-15 overs and try and get up to a lead of around 200. That's obviously an ideal scenario for me but we shall see. Declaring around 2.30pm would leave around 140 overs left in the game.
