CC : Durham v Glamorgan

It’s early days but I really like the look of him - I know the initial deal is for two games, but if he still isn’t likely to push for a place in the Warwickshire side for the July CC fixtures I wonder if the club will keep in contact regarding another stint up here?

Good point about De Leede actually.

I think Glamorgan will be absolutely gutted to have only taken 3 batting bonus points when they were 340-4.

Biggest day of the season so far is tomorrow in my opinion, to see how we respond when the scoreboard pressure is on us for a change. A McAlindon century would be a canny start, atleast then he’d be in a positive aggregate for his dropped catch ;).
Are you going

any, I dont think Parnell has helped win us many games

Beds is one of our best players and I reckon not getting picked will unsettle him too
Have you looked at his numbers? Where does he bat?
I think Patel has bowled well without any luck.
Bowled too slowly on a flat pitch. Carlson played well against him, able to use his feet whenever he wanted

Surprised me

He's got 505 blast runs at 18.03 from his 28 innings. At 133 SR.

One decent-ish season in 2021 and 2 awful seasons in 2020 and 2022.

So nee wonder the coach has gone for Turner and Parnell as the overseas.

Quite few players performing better than they were since Franklin left

I think Parnell has been poor, personally, and Beds has so much untapped talent.

Young STAN’s head visibly dropped after his unfortunate dropping of a dolly, but it was good to see the other seasoned pros rallying around him and encouraging etc.
Mind you sending him out to open in the final over of the day, imagine how he’d have felt if he’d got out?
Also good to see him out as nightwatchman. I presume in the dressing room someone someone (Scotty probably) "we need a nightwatchman, and I guess Stan stepped forwards - he'd had a bad day but showed good attitude in stepping forward like that (assuming that's how it played out).

Also, in amongst the dross he also delivered a few high quality balls, fast, well directed and with a bit of movement. Once he gets it right he'll be knocking over top order players regularly.

I can remember Botham saying something similar about Harmison and Marcus North is a big fan.

I made reference to Harmison in comparison to Stan earlier on in the season - David Boon picked Harmy out from very early on as someone he wanted in his team. It would’ve been easy for Harmy to have gone in a different direction from cricket when he didn’t take a wicket in his debut whilst going at nearly 9 an over in an innings loss to Leicestershire and when he then missed the entirety of the next season through injury - but Boony recognised enough about him to want him involved straight away in 1998 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Stan had a day from hell yesterday, I can’t imagine he’ll have many (if any at all) as bad as that in the rest of his career but he is an undoubted talent and I hope the team and the coaching staff can get round him and keep him on an even keel.

In many respects, it’ll probably do him no harm if Coughlin and Carse (or one of them) are fit for Leicestershire and he is able to get a few games in for the 2’s.
