Wrestling - Part 3

An incredibly sad episode of Dark Side Of The Ring. I knew about the story prior to watching but hearing the people closest to Candido was hard to watch. Tammy, well, I don’t know. It’s just sad. Although to finish on a lighter note, it reminded me just how great looking she was during the mid nineties.

Glad they didn’t shy away from Heyman trying to profit from that interview as well.

Candido was really good back in the day, although like Dark Side pointed out, the gimmick stuck on him and Pritchard was bloody awful! His brother has done quite a few shoot interviews in the past and in this episode he went lightly on Tammy unless they cut a lot - he really detests her and you can't blame him.

Next one is about some bloke Magnum T, got to admit I haven’t got a clue who that is
Magnum was in the NWA mid 80s. He was being prepped to be their main babyface but ended up having a car crash and was in hospital for several months. Never wrestled again because of it. He was a big bloke before the crash but they used him as an interviewer on their weekly show after and was considerably smaller. Look up his match with Tully Blanchard in the cage I Quit match in 85. Good stuff. He's Tesa Blanchards Stepfather. Wrestling eh.

I didn’t even know that was a thing till I watched it, pretty horrendous on Paul E’s part.
Heyman tried to pull loads of stuff like that during ECW. He did a few blurring the lines to full exploitation moves. Not the same but miliked Sabu's broken neck for all it was worth, didn't pay many wrestlers on time or at all. Weird promotion in hindsight but the sort of stuff WWF copied to an extent.

Johnny Candido live now talking to Rene Dupree. He mentions Tammy bragging about shagging wrestlers while Chris was in the ring. Rank

He was a big wrestler in the early 80s and potentially could have been huge during the boom period but was in a car crash and got paralysed.

Never heard a huge amount of controversy about him so no idea what the episode is about.

That said I saw this season's list and throught they are struggling now.

WWE still milking Eddie death to this day, just part of the business unfortunately. It's pretty sad but the Wrestling industry sees everything as a potentially work for them.

I think where they're going with his episode is why he crashed the car. He's never stated how it happened, but the rumors were he was tanked up on something. He went through some addiction after. The Marty Jannetty episode will be interesting. That bloke has lived a f***ing bizarre life and maybe they might get any truth out of him.

Yeah I mean it'll still be entertaining but seem like they have used up the major ones now and are just scraping now.

Marty Janetty tried to shag his own daughter so aye, should be a mad one 🤣.

TBH, I'd hope so! So many tragic stories in wrestling, not all can fill 40 mins for a doc.

He's a crazy man, that's for sure.

That’s the one I’m most looking forward to, sure I read somewhere he’s the most sacked and rehired WWE/F wrestler in history

I’d have to disagree on this point, I think there’s some cracking episodes and they silly go the route of a few older stories mixed in with some attitude era/90’s stories. The bam bam bigelow and bash at the beach episodes will be class, as well as jannety. I always enjoy hearing about the earlier ones anarl. There’s absolutely tons of stories for them still to tell.

Mr. Perfect would be one I'd like to see. If you want to go really gritty and horrible, Hard Body Harris? Maybe go into The Harris Boys? Wtf their existence is in wrestling is mind-blowing to me

It'll still be enjoyable but they've got all the major stuff. It's basically went from major wrestlers killing people, drug scandals and extreme violence to now being about midcarder having affairs.

I mean the whole industry will have millions of stories but they've used up the really shocking shit.
