this year’s C2C - 2023

I'm looking forward to it and bricking it in equal measure.

My Mrs thinks I'm mad agreeing to go on a cross country bike ride with a load of people off the Internet I've never met before, she said it's like the opening scenes of a serial killer movie where you sit there and say "like anyone would do that in real life".

Off out for a good long ride out on Saturday to see what I'm up against in terms of fitness, good excuse to swerve Charlie's new hat ceremony.
See my earlier post on this thread, I survived it, my one tip would be to make sure you don’t lose track of people and get lost as I did on day 1 of my first effort

I’ll have you know we are cool calm and collective, we have grown up in the last few year.

I’ve also had my back wheel pretty much rebuilt so I’m going for garrigill decent again this year
So no drinking Jäger out of teapots this time?
Shall we bring the karaoke machine again?

This, folks, is the difference between every other C2C and the SMB C2C.

I definitely think the key is to get someone to properly close the road off this time so you can hit the bottom crossing on to the wrong side of the road.

Aye that's the way to do it, I would do it myself but I'm normally way behind nomark and Pete despite the fact that they replace their water bottles with cans of lager.

Let’s not be hasty

Think we did that last time but I was still a bit off the pace. I still want to give it a go like.

I’ve never been on my bike for years man

I think the pace is around three to four pints per hour. Which isn’t bad considering you’re on the bike for a good fifty miles each day.

Just back from doing 50 miles Washington to Crimdon Beach and back. First proper exercise i've done in a long time so i'm pleased I can do the daily distance (and that my heart didn't explode), I now need to build in some pints to my training regime to make sure I can perform to the required level in that regard.

Whee the fucks this clown shoe? Up to 50 miles already? I think Trev’s got a new riding partner up front.
I did 22 mile today and I had nowt left in the tank. I was done by about 15 but had to get back from shields.

I thought I'd rather find out if I was physically incapable at this stage of the game rather than embarrass myself 5 miles out of Whitehaven. I won't be making a habit of it, I'm a shadow of the man the merrily cycled off my drive this morning.
