Can’t see how it will help?Reading the RAWA minutes, the club seem to think that rail seating will help. If so, why the fuck are they not doing it until 2024/2025?

Me neitherCan’t see how it will help?
Aye great. Punish the home fans with shit seats because the away fans act up. Mint idea thatTo me the only sensible place for the visiting fans now is the SE corner.
Can't be -
West, they're probably the best seats, South, singing bit, too many tickets to move
East, don't want them getting the best East seats
North, BCB behind,
NW corner, boxes above
SW corner, impinge on West/South
NE corner - BCB entrance possibly compromised.
Obviously no ST in area that is shut off for family bit, put them there, dunno how many family tickets we've sold but put them in the NS upper & sort out a new family zone for 24/25.
Problem sorted, I thank you![]()
The question is not how many other stadiums have nets up but how many other clubs have had to deal with missiles being thrown from a great height onto fans below on at least five times this season?
This is an very serious accident waiting to happen.
A net IMPROVES the safety of thousands of spectators sat below the area from which missiles have been thrown consistently and on numerous occasions.
So I cannot imagine a Safety Certificate issued by Sunderland Building Control should be anything other than a formality? Assuming we would get it professionally installed (and nobody suggests fans turn up with their toolkit).
Then I’m not sure on what grounds the EFL could object. Do they have an alternative practical suggestion to ensure fans are safe? Well?
Ah take that back thenReporting it on Look North - wonder if that’s why the club got a statement out this afternoon.
Anyone else notice this story?
So in the time it has taken SAFC to introduce ineffective searches of away fans and clearer announcements to “please do not throw anything including pyrotechnics”….Feyenoord put a net around their entire ground

Hasn’t been for all the others but it appears to be controlled by that third party security company that isn’t fit for purpose.

The only way anything will be done is if people invade the pitch next time it happens. Parents should walk onto the pitch with their kids. Men and women need to join them. Don’t cause bother, wave arms about or anything daft, don’t do anything else but just stand there on the pitch and point at the away fans and say you’re under threat of being hurt. The ref will have to stop the game and they can’t and won’t arrest people for doing it if it’s done in numbers and it’s on the basis you fear for your safety.
Safety in numbers. If 100s do it it will end the issue almost instantly as the fall out for the club will be massive.
The reality is mate, the club know they could shift the aways to the NEC next season. The council and safety group would approve, but it would cost money. Ultimately they don’t want to spend money
At what point can we just refuse to have away fans?
This is where the clubs own advisers are telling them to put the away fans
The club can do what it wants re fans but the action will be reciprocated. Club are to scared to make a stand
I agree mate. I think the club are scared to make a stand as they think there will be a backlash.
They are desperate for the whole thing to just disappear.
I don’t believe that club statement that someone’s been identified until it’s posted by the police or in a paper with his name. The club have a habit of talking absolute shite to try and appease everyone.I really hope I’m wrong but I bet nothing comes from the police investigation.
To be honest there is no point in searching away fans. It just penalises the decent fans..and let's remember there are some. The sort of people who come with the intention of throwing things will just hide them and the stewards don't have the authority to do any sort of really thorough search.. I'd be fuming if I went to an event and had to empty my pockets. The whole approach or lack of, is an actual joke.
