Missed training this morning due to travelling down to the smoke. Thought I’d welcome the rest as my back is aching a bit but missing it already. Roll on deadlift Fridayhaven't trained in a couple weeks, been away with work, then a long weekend away. Then when I've come back work is crazy and I have a dodgy knee, itching to get back.
Would love to get anywhere near BW for chest, by far my worst. I’m only at 65kg for 4, seem to really struggle for some reason, gonna focus on that for a while I think while my back calms down. For the bench press I'm currently doing 5 sets of 5 reps with 90kg with a barbell and then 3 sets of 6 reps with 37kg dumbells.
My 1rm is 110kg.
Another thing I've been doing is pause reps which help with form and strength.
Nice one! I f***ing hate front squats.100kg front squat achieved
I can only do those now, my lower back doesn’t handle back squats very well and the upright position for fs is more agreeableNice one! I f***ing hate front squats.
Been suffering with a fucked up shoulder for over 2 years now. Had accupuncture, ultrasounds, MRIs and three steroid injections...along with physio and I'm still in pain. Fuck knows what's wrong with it.Think I've got the dreaded rotator cuff having to bench with my sling shot sick as a chip!
I'm not sure If it's shoulder joint with me can press easily enough with a sling shot on and light weights with chains, two year of this shit and I would be pulling my hair out! It's my own stupid fault we had a strongman in and he was doing 4 plates on incline press machine so I had to beat him absolute moron at times meBeen suffering with a fucked up shoulder for over 2 years now. lying here and can feel it throbbing. Just got used to it I suppose. In the early days it had me feeling so down. I've got to warm it up and stretch it for about 20mins before I can do anything with it in the gym. I've found hanging helps so I do that a lot. Waiting for a referral to a specialist now. I was being told that it was bursitis but the last steroid I had (which was ultrasound guided) they doc said he couldn't see any evidence of bursitis. No idea what it is. Pisses me off though.I'm not sure If it's shoulder joint with me can press easily enough with a sling shot on and light weights with chains, two year of this shit and I would be pulling my hair out! Cracking that marra.140kg for 8 on deadlifts on the trap bar this morning, a pb for me and felt fairly comfortable. Target 180 for 8.
That's belta, impressive.100kg front squat achieved
Cheers! Finally forked out for some proper coaching for myself over the last 2 months and the difference it has made is unbelievable. Deads and squats the main focus to supplement my BJJ training, but I'm loving being in the gym for the first time in a long time.

Rippetoe isn’t keen on using the trap bar for deadlifts! From what I’ve seen he thinks that it’s less stable.Cheers!
Makes it much easier if you enjoy going, always struggled to get to the point of enjoying it, but now loving it. There 4 times a week which I would have never considered doing 6 months ago. Nice early morning sessions, 6am and my work is done before the kids are out of bed so no excuses anymore, it’s changed my life.
Trap bar is much easier than the Olympic bar for me, I’m 25kg ahead on trap than I am on straight for deads for some reason, but switching to straight bar a few weeks ago has clearly improved my strength on the trap.
