13th in league?

Who needs a striker when ya 2 nil up?

The striker situation is a poor excuse in my opinion.
Don't have many 6 footers. Stewart and simms win a lot of headers on their set plays. First goal could of been avoided if they were on the pitch. Playing at that Intensity for the first half an hour of a game your obviously gona have to defend at some point. Especially against the best team in the league. U can't tell me they wouldn't of helped in both defending and holding the ball up yesterday second half when everyone was tiring? Don't think it's a poor excuse. That's my opinion.

Ah, the age old “if we had some tall guy to hoof the ball at” excuse. That’s not how football really works, just how fifa works. We needed to be braver and pass the ball out and retain possession that way, not playing yee old hoofball to a lanky bloke with no one within 59 yards of him.

I missed the bit where I was advocating hoof ball like, you might want to enlighten me.

The idea is you continue to play the ball on the deck through to the final third and it sticks up there if you’ve got a presence/threat. That way it takes the pressure off the back four instead of them facing constant attacks. No one mentioned long ball but you, mate.

You don't really look at the big picture do u boy ?
I did post something saying if I was in charge I'd play Tony Bennett up top but the gaffer sees different. Please enlighten me with your knowledge of no centre forward, 🙂 🙏?
.. You are not aware that we have no centre forwards to play!..

.. While I'm hardly a doom merchant, your bigger picture shite in this context makes me laugh. Maybe the manager saying he left as he wasn't backed enough is part of the bigger picture, and maybe we are now seeing his concerns panning out; I think we have some good young tallent, though I also think we need a bit more experience in there..

.. For me, our team is too slanted towards young, small, inexperienced players and we saw what happened last season when they lost confidence. I get the 'model' but it does need to be a bit more ballanced imo. So will the owners invest in January to help us improve, or are they more concerned with making money? ..

.. We are all entitled to our opinion, though in my opinion it is a little early to suggest to knowing what the picture is going to look like. Me, I'm too long in the tooth to have any massive expectations of some masterpiece. And while I do think we have tallent and like the we play, at times, I do get why people are getting concerned..

We’ve lost 3 of our tallest players through injury, so we are struggling massively at set pieces both offensively and defensively.

We also generally miss a centre forward on the pitch to hold up the ball, win headers and hassle defenders. You know, everything that a centre forward does.

We’ve been unlucky with injuries and there’s nothing we can do until January. I’ll take mid table this season, but Speakman needs to learn from this. We should have three strikers minimum and needs addressing in January imo, regardless if Stewart and Simms are fit.

We've struggled with them all season regardless of shape or personnel. At both ends.

It's not just set pieces either. We struggle to deal with any ball into the box. Look at the state of the Wigan goal last season.

Don't give away so many set pieces then.

Mowbray's teams have been the same over the past 20 years. Stop makin excuses for him.

Is anyone starting to wonder ? ( I am) if our owners have much money ?

There was 2 divisions separating us and Burnley this time last year. 2nd half they just had far too much for us sadly.
There was 2 divisions separating us and Sheffield utd in the season before our 2017-18 encounter and they hammered us 3-0 down their place.

No... a striker is as important defending as it is to scoring goals...
