It's just a comfort blanket to them.
The extent, I’m sure decent reasonable people, in any other debate are prepared to go to, to defend the indefensible because it’s their football team makes me despair.

  • I support womens rights - well unless it’s the Saudis taking them away, because they bought my club.
  • I support gay rights - well unless it’s the Saudis taking them away, because they bought my club.
  • Imagine murdering women and children - well unless it’s the Saudis because they bought my club.
It genuinely upsets me that people I know and like have not just accepted it but embraced a culture they’d ordinarily condemn out of horror.

Bloody hell Janey!
I support women’s rights.
I support gay rights.
Murdering women and children ffs????
Embracing the culture?
Do you actually believe we’ve all changed? Every Newcastle fan I know condemns what happens in that country and always have done.
Sorry pet, but that’s absolute bollocks!

It’s madness though the way some people on here go on , I get the vast majority of Sunderland fans are just saying it because it’s Newcastle, but then some of your fans do genuinely believe Newcastle fans support all the horrible things the Saudis do and had the Saudis taken over Sunderland then the stadium would be empty:D.
I was against the Chelsea ownership and recall having a heated argument with a plastic French Chelsea supporter about how they were skewing the game. Likewise I remember criticising the Man City takeover. All both have done is raise transfer fees and wages and caused the debt spiral. If Saudi could have spent unfettered then the game would be f**cked.

I am not going to get on my high horse about human rights but I am really surprised by the number of adults who can be so enthusiastic about the ownership given the level of inequality in the Kingdom. I’ve said before how anyone gay or with gay friends/family can be so gushing about the owners is unfathomable. I pointed this out to one prominent gay fan on Twitter but he just blocked me.

Enjoy the ride because this is not going to be the magic carpet you think it is. Fortunately the world has changed and over time countries like Saudi will be toxic, regardless of the wealth.

Then you are a hypocrite

They don’t though, I’ve seen people I really like, who’d usually be at the for front of, gay or women‘s rights, dismiss it, and excuse it, and justify it, to defend the ownership, I don’t say things upset me lightly, but some really have.

Works both ways that though , I would have a lot more respect for Sunderland fans if they just admitted they don’t give a shit about human rights and if the Saudis owned them or any other club in world football then human rights would never be mentioned on this board .
How dare you incorporate nous?!

I haven't seen any other set of fans go on like theirs over this takeover. Partying outside the ground with head dress on, saudi flags, avatars, 100,000 signing a petition, yet they all support womens right, gay rights etc. and hate what goes on in saudi. In other words ,they couldn't give a f#ck, cos they now have woodsie up front. Weak willed, with no morals at all.

I think you’ll find that it’s called taking the high moral ground, that’s the way it works.

The petition signing was rotten, the partying with the teatowels, waving Saudi flags was, the most sickening spectacle of the whole saga.

And it’s that which negates the argument they don’t support their owners, because they actively celebrated them

Well I honestly don’t know anyone who thinks like that.

It’s not nous though is it? It’s a sweeping generalisation with not an ounce of evidence to support it.
I would appreciate it if you didn’t judge my standards by yours, thanks
Yes, it is.

I would imagine you are applying the more colloquial definition to your response.

Yep.Didnt see man city ,or p.s.g fans go on like that after their takeovers. I am sure bayern fans protested at the hint of saudi involvement in their club. But we are the bad ones, aye

He's just deflecting. Common theme with you lot. Just deflect onto Sunderland fans, because we are rivals we arent allowed an opinion on this apparently.
Opinions are what generate debate, however, this board is sorely lacking in balance which creates more of an echo chamber than grounded discussion of opinions.

Are you saying that as a Newcastle or Sunderland fan, it’s hard to keep up 😁

I obviously annoy you.You are quite ridiculous yourself with how serious you take this board. 'Big hitters', thinking people deserve medals for going to the match etc. How old are you?

Convenient
I said that? Show me. Bullshitter.
By big hitters, I meant people who can put up a reasoned, well constructed debate.
You offer nothing.
