Exactly and I know a few of the Newcastle fans who have tweeted about it, some are actually just taking the piss and saying stuff like if we don’t sign Mbappe I’m going to support Man City etc to get bites from other Newcastle fans and mocking others. Example below.
He’s another bloke who’s an embarrassment to their fanbase that bald fcker.

Mandy for fuck sake.

It doesn't really do that in the article though does it?

Exile isn't a details man to be fair. You only have to look at how he lavished praise on an article sticking up for Newcastle fans the other day and wished he had wrote it.

Of course he had only read a small section which suited his narrative that was not the tone of the article at all.

But we are dealing with someone that cheered Qatar-owned PSG signing a player the other week and someone who said that he'd stop his current anti-Saudi campaign the second they sold Newcastle United.

Obviously you didn't read the article and just got annoyed because it was a Luke Edwards tweet. He's reporting on the England ladies team but because it's Edwards you automatically link that to Newcastle.

Here's the quote that has annoyed you. It's from Fran Kirby;

“Hopefully, we are giving the country something to smile about,” said Kirby, from the team’s hotel on the outskirts of west London. "And to be proud of us in terms of the way we have been playing.

“The other thing is that if we get the chance to win in the semi-final and get through to the final, I think it will be incredible for people in this country to have something to celebrate and enjoy. We want to do that as much as possible. As much as we want to win, we want to put a smile on people’s faces.

“They may be going through a hard time in terms of the fuel costs and the cost of living now, and hopefully we can give people an escape for 90-plus minutes when they turn their TVs on and they will have something to cheer about and something to watch.
Obviously you didn’t read the headline and just got annoyed because someone criticised a Luke Edwards tweet. Nowhere in that quote does Fran Kirby claim what Luke Edwards wrote, but because it’s Edwards you automatically jump to his defence.
Why?

Predictable responses :lol:

Of course there is pressure.....if they are 15-20 in October half the ones replying will be slagging Howe off. Did a great job last year but he was in a no lose situation and if you take the atmosphere/euphoria away it was pretty pragmatic and direct football. The squad hasn't changed enough in midfield to change the style as JoeL's passing is shocking. So it will be same again and the home crowd will see them through.

The tweet and tagline in the link to the article paraphrase the following quote.
I've put the relevant bit bold.

“They may be going through a hard time in terms of the fuel costs and the cost of living now, and hopefully we can give people an escape for 90-plus minutes when they turn their TVs on and they will have something to cheer about and something to watch

the headline on the article is;

England desperate to reach Euro 2022 final to lift nation's spirits amid cost of living crisis

All those followers would be gutted if he stopped

It still doesn’t say what Luke Edwards tweeted, it doesn’t even paraphrase it. He made something up to get attention, and he got yours.
Though I have to admit that it’s good to see a Saudi acolyte trying to defend a journalist instead of…………….
