It's funny how they thought it would be so easy to get the very best players in, even the kids who are supposed to be the next this or that are turning them down!

Tbh, they seemed to do well in January when they bought experienced prem league players, maybe they should concentrate on that instead of these ridiculous notions of Stella names coming to the grim North East.

Trippier - missus wanted to be in NW;
Burn - isn't he from Blyth?
Targett - relegated to 3rd choice at Villa and wanted to stay in Prem;
Wood - likely doubled wages and extended contract

Only Bruno G is the real coup and I would love to see his contract to see if it has any clauses. But even if no clauses superstars can stink the place out if it goes wrong. Honeymoon period over and cannot see a Brazilian international being happy with a tactic that involves Targett/Trippier hitting Wilson and midfield picking up scraps. I really thought they would have signed some midfield quality but they haven't. JoeLinton's passing stats are woeful...great tackler but can't pass wind. Another season of hoofball beckons but because EH looks the part and gets to work at 4am he gets a free pass. I cannot wait for this to fall apart.

This. From a club whose fans labeled Ben Arfa as Ben Messi and genuinely thought he was in the same class.

It's what they do. They think all their players are class, and the best of them are underrated footballing genius. And people fall for it. How many of their players have had big money moves to big clubs and then fade into obscurity. Remy? Carroll? Ba? Cabaye

They seem to believe the only reason that their squads win nothing is Ashley. Or Net Spend. or premier league corruption. Or Bruce.

Well they've all gone now lads.... who's to blame now if you aren't pushing top half

We wouldn't pay the loan fee for Hamza Choudry under Big Mike.

It's funny to see differing opinions on players though. Trippier dross. Debuchy a top player.

I see Maxi is a top player now it suits the argument. Sure I read he's a show pony with no end product on here. Great stuff
'maxi' isn't a top player. Top players influence games regularly. 'maxi' doesn't score or create many.

Out of curiosity what calibre of player would you have him alongside?

Ask the lads in here who were claiming it, I didn't say it. You're arguing amongst yourselves about the quality of Newcastle players

I don't think it'll get started enough for it to fall apart. Tripper and Taggart are solid additions, but I just don't see them making the ground up of the top 8 teams in the prem.

I just don't think the top players in football will see their futures in the North East. Even if that Bruno has a good season, he'll be wanting a move away. They'll only really be able to attract half decent Prem players on big contracts.
